Ford Motor Company's electric vehicle (EV) portfolio gets a boost with the 2024 Mustang Mach-E, which features improved range, charging speed, and acceleration.
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E has 10-20 more miles of range than its predecessors. According to The Verge, the rear-wheel-drive design with an extended battery has an EPA-estimated 320-mile range, while the regular battery version has 250 miles, while the range is 280 miles for the Mach-E GT.
Better Than the Tesla Model Y
The 2024 Mach-E outperforms the Tesla Model Y and Porsche Macan 4 Electric in 3.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. Additionally, it runs the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph. The Mach-E GT offers performance, while the Rally electric SUV comes standard.
"The Performance Upgrade combines innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms, and our new in-house eMotor helps to deliver the improved torque-an additional 100 lb. ft. compared to vehicles without the Performance Upgrade12," according to the automotive company's blog.
With the extended-range battery, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E can recharge from 10 to 80 percent capacity in 36.2 minutes with a DC fast charger, an 8.8-minute boost over prior versions.
Moreover, Ford standardizes popular performance features for the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT, except for the Performance Upgrade. The 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition was the exclusive home to the Ford Performance front seats, MagneRide Damping System, and Brembo front brake calipers.
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E also has a Ford-developed rear eMotor. All trim levels include this component to save weight and improve torque delivery.

Ford is the second-largest US EV seller, as Tesla leads in sales volume. Ford wants to improve its flagship electric car to compete with Tesla, which has over 50% of the EV market.
The firm changed Mach-E pricing earlier this year due to Tesla's price cuts and market factors. The corporation recognizes that EV buyers increasingly value competitive pricing and dependable charging infrastructure.
F-150 Lightning Price Update
Meanwhile, due to rising electric vehicle competition, Ford is lowering the price of its 2024 F-150 Lightning electric pickup by up to $5,500. The deal started on April 5, per CarsDirect.
Ford implements the strategy as Chevrolet gears up to introduce the Silverado electric pickup truck. The price reduction qualifies most F-150 Lightning variants for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles under $80,000 (excluding destination expenses), which might drastically lower purchasers' upfront costs.
Ford is also actively dumping its 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning inventory to make room for the 2024 upgrade. Platinum Black and Flash trims, standard keyless entry, an enhanced BlueCruise 1.2 driver-assistance system, and a revamped ProPower onboard generator are new for the model year.
This update comes after Ford Motor Co. postponed the launch of its upcoming electric pickup trucks and a large electric SUV. Company models will include gas-electric hybrids. Its new Tennessee factory will not start producing the projected EV truck until 2026, as previously reported by TechTimes.
As US hybrid vehicle sales surged 45% from January to March amid declining EV demand, Ford plans to manufacture hybrid versions of all its gasoline passenger vehicles in North America by the end of the decade.
