Entering the EV Market

BMW is entering the electric vehicle arena with a bold move aimed directly at Tesla's dominance. The renowned automaker is introducing a new concept, the electric SUV, signaling its determination to challenge Tesla in the growing EV market.

This marks BMW's foray into electric mobility, positioning its upcoming Neue Klasse vehicle as a formidable competitor to Tesla's electric car lineup. BMW has stepped into the spotlight with the debut of its latest concept car, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X.

This unveiling signals BMW's bold entry into the competitive EV market, where it aims to rival industry giants like Tesla and Mercedes-Benz.

Oliver Zipse, chairman of the BMW Board of Management, made the announcement and introduced the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X.

Positioned as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), this concept vehicle provides a sneak peek into BMW's future electric vehicle lineup, leveraging the advanced electric architecture of the Neue Klasse.

Redefining BMW's Vision

Oliver Zipse emphasized that the introduction of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X signifies a redefinition of the BMW brand and its commitment to revolutionizing the dynamics of the drivetrain.

The platform aims to enhance precision, dynamics, efficiency, and driving pleasure. This unveiling follows the debut of the sedan version, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, at the IAA 2023, highlighting BMW's dedication to electrification across various vehicle types.

In addition to the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X provides insight into BMW's future model lineup. Oliver Zipse conveyed that the Neue Klasse embodies the range of models desired by customers, including sporty sedans and modern SAV families.

A standout feature of the Neue Klasse X is its cutting-edge drive and chassis control system, which is driven by a proprietary software stack engineered internally by BMW. This advanced system is engineered to enhance the driving experience through seamless integration of powertrain and driving dynamics.

Frank Weber, a key figure in BMW AG's Board of Management overseeing development, emphasized the Neue Klasse's significance, stating that it represents BMW's advancement to a higher level.

He highlighted the integration of four new high-performance computers, which collaborate intelligently to process tasks that were previously handled separately.

The sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology represents a notable advancement in the Neue Klasse's overall efficiency. The adoption of new cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells has resulted in a volumetric energy density increase of over 20 percent compared to previous prismatic cells.

This enhancement, combined with the transition to an 800-volt system, has led to a significant 30 percent acceleration in charging speed. Weber emphasized the development of the first super-brain entirely in-house.

This advanced system seamlessly integrates the entire powertrain and driving dynamics, boasting up to tenfold computing power enhancement.
