The PlayStation 5 Pro is not yet out for the gamers yet Grand Theft Auto fans are concerned already about Sony's approach to its console. However, experts have a say about the game's frame rate for the new console model.
Recent leaks regarding the specifications of the highly anticipated gaming machine have been scrutinized and validated by the tech specialists at Digital Foundry. Not only have they verified the leaked specs, but they have also offered insights into how the unannounced console might perform with upcoming titles such as GTA 6.
Verified Specs of PS5 Pro
The leaked specifications of the PS5 Pro, corroborated by IGN, shed light on the capabilities of the console, purportedly scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2024.
According to the leaks, the PS5 Pro will feature a CPU identical to that of the standard PS5, albeit with a "High CPU Frequency Mode" that delivers a 10% boost to 3.85GHz.
In terms of graphics processing power, the PS5 Pro is expected to offer faster rendering and enhanced ray tracing quality, boasting an impressive 33.5 teraflops compared to the standard PS5's 10.28 teraflops.
Performance Projection
One of the key questions surrounding the PS5 Pro is how it will handle future titles like GTA 6. Digital Foundry's Rich Leadbetter shared his insights in a recent episode of DF Direct, suggesting that due to the PS5 Pro's CPU enhancements, GTA 6 will likely run at 30fps. This mirrors the performance on the standard PS5.
Furthermore, Leadbetter explained that since the CPU primarily handles simulation, the incremental 10% boost in CPU performance on the PS5 Pro would unlikely result in a significant framerate increase. However, if GTA 6 were to offer a 60fps mode on the standard PS5, it would also be expected to run at 60fps on the PS5 Pro.
Enhanced Rendering Capability
Despite the modest CPU improvement, Digital Foundry emphasizes that the PS5 Pro outperforms the standard PS5 in rendering capabilities.
The PS5 Pro is predicted to excel in upscaling older PS5 games from 1080p to 4K using its proprietary upscaling/antialiasing solution, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling (PSSR), provided developers opt to support the technology with patches. Additionally, the PS5 Pro is anticipated to maintain the same 16GB of GDDR6 memory as its predecessor, with an additional 1.2GB of system RAM allocated for developers.
When is the PS5 Pro Coming?
Analysts have hinted at a potential release of the PS5 Pro later in 2024, aligning with Sony's past strategy of introducing Pro versions of its consoles.
It should be noted that the PS4 Pro debuted three years after the launch of the PS4. This suggests a similar timeline for the PS5 Pro's release.
Speaking of its rumored launch, Tech Times reported that it might land on the shelves on holidays. The good news is that you still have more time to save money if your target is the Pro version.
There's nothing wrong in settling for the current version, whether it's the standard or the Slim model, but if you have the patience to endure the upcoming months, the PS5 Pro experience is definitely the best to come.
