Apple iPad 2024 Delay: Arriving in April, Not March—but Why?

New iPads are coming next month due to delays.

If you expect Apple to drop their new iPads for 2024 this March, it is not happening, as these new tablets will be released next month, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

According to the analyst, the company is delaying the release of the new iPads slated for this year as it is waiting for a key technology to be completed before its arrival.

Apple's iPad 2024 is Delayed to an April Release

New reports from analysts claim that Apple's 2024 iPad releases are delayed, suggesting that they will no longer arrive by March. According to Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young, Apple would "likely" ship out its new iPads in April 2024 but did not provide an exact release window for their availability.

It centers on the iPad Pro and iPad Air models, which feature a two-variant release and M-series chips.

However, what it brings to users differs. The iPad Pro variants would feature OLED screens for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants, alongside a possible MagSafe wireless charging and the M3 chip. On the other hand, the iPad Air would center on the M2 chips and also deliver its first-ever 12.9-inch variant.

Both will bring a rumored landscape-oriented front camera, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Tab S9.

Why are the iPads Not Coming This March?

The latest Power On newsletter from Gurman also explains the reason behind Apple's delay for the iPad, citing the software, particularly a variant of iOS 17.4 that would not be complete until the end of March.

Both Gurman and Young claimed that it is possible that Apple will announce the new iPads at the end of March, which is already next week, or early April, with their availability coming next month.

Apple's 2024 Release of iPads

Since last year's M3 announcement, there have been claims behind Apple's 2024 developments for the iPad. The company finally brought new updates for the famous tablets, up for its much-awaited refresh.

The story centers on the two iPad Pros that will receive the M3 chip. 2023 marks the first year in Apple's history since 2010 that there were no new iPad announcements.

Many leakers and analysts have said that the upcoming refresh will arrive this March 2024, featuring a massive update for the famous Apple technology to bounce back from its one-year skip. The iPad Pro will now feature OLED screens for its 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants, and the iPad Air will now feature a larger 12.9-inch version but with the M2.

The March 2024 expectations were massive and widely awaited by the public, who found themselves waiting for it until now, without any news from Apple late in the month.

However, March is not yet over, and a possible end-of-month announcement may be coming. This also means that the release and availability of the new 2024 iPads will be by April.
