Google I/O 2024 is Coming this May 14—What to Expect?

Google's biggest event is confirmed for May.

The highly-expected annual event of Google is coming, with the company confirming its upcoming I/O 2024 showcase taking place this Tuesday, May 14, at 10 AM PDT. Google's upcoming event will bring massive new developments coming for the year and what it will release amidst the event, as headed by its CEO Sundar Pichai who will kick off the event with his keynote.

This yearly tradition from Google since 2016 continues, only seeing a cancelation in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and returned the year after in a virtual setup.

Google I/O 2024 is Coming This May 14

Google's I/O website released the "Break the loop" puzzle which will lead users to the event date of its annual event, and after completing it, the company shared that its showcase will take place on May 14. For those who want to get to the point, they may click the "I'd rather observe" button which will lead them straight to the landing page that Google will give which states the event date.

While not much has been revealed by Google in this date revelation, there are already massive expectations set out for the company for this showcase.

That being said, I/O 2024 will have both a physical and virtual setting for the event, with a limited live audience for those who will go in person. It will take place on Google's campus in Mountain View, California.

What to Expect from Google I/O 2024?

The event will be kicked off by Pichai with his keynote address at the Shoreline Amphitheater on the Google campus, and will only be a two-day event from May 14 to 15. Online registration is available now for those who want to watch the event on the upcoming date, available for free.

For developers, they may also create a developer profile that brings extra perks for the events, with this digital experience offering more like saving and viewing content that one prefers compared to the regular audience.

Google and Its Upcoming Tech

It is a big year for Google and its technological developments, and this much has been confirmed from the internal message of the Big Tech's CEO, Sundar Pichai, who revealed the plans earlier this January. According to Pichai, Google's goal for 2024 is to expand more of its AI developments as its top priority, alongside its improvements on productivity apps, Google Cloud innovations, and more.

One of the largest releases of the year for Google was its Gemini AI, but that has been plagued by the issues it faced upon launch, centering on racial inaccuracies and other complaints from users. Last year, Google placed Gemini on a pedestal and regarded it as the most advanced AI technology it released, one that replaces Bard, but its controversial release is facing a setback, soon to relaunch.

While AI is the most prioritized tech in Google now, there are many other products that await the likes of the I/O event for a special showcase, including the upcoming Pixel devices, Android, YouTube, and more. Google I/O 2024 is set to kick off this May 14, less than two months from now, to bring the latest from what Google has to offer, and what the company worked on the past year.
