Two new techs from DJI were leaked, centering on the yet-to-be-announced Avata 2 drone and the wearable, Goggles 3, both featuring new upgrades and features. Both devices were featured on leaks from online sources, claiming that this was the latest DJI developments coming soon, with the drone offering new features and hardware, alongside the wearable's possible "Passthrough" experience.
DJI Avata 2: What Does the New Drone Bring to the Table?
Quadro News shared a leak on X which shares one of the earliest actual images of the Avata 2, a new drone from DJI that will pick up from the original one's offers, with massive changes coming. First off, the Avata 2 will no longer feature its iconic skeletal design in favor of its triple-bladed propellers but still maintains its quad-compact design inside its shell.
On the other hand, it will feature a bigger sensor and improved cameras, alongside a larger capacity battery from the looks of it.
Its specs were also leaked online, with screenshots from Chinese Telegram channels, claiming that it will weigh 458g, 180x216x82mm in dimensions, and feature a 3400 mAh battery.
DJI Goggles 3 Features Cameras for Passthrough
Alongside this, The DJI Goggles 3's specs and images were also leaked online, and it will weigh 420g which is significantly heavier than previous models, offer FHD with 60fps, and 2450 mAh battery.
More importantly, the Goggles 3 leak shows cameras in front of the headset, believed to be a Passthrough feature coming to the wearable that would allow users to see more of their surroundings instead of getting blocked out when wearing it.
DJI's Drone and Developments
Last year, the latest from the renowned Chinese tech company, DJI, was the Mini 4 Pro drone, offering an expanded feature-set that sets it apart from 2022's Mini 3 Pro. It features a significant upgrade for its aerial performance, featuring the RC-N2 remote controller, a New Image-Processing Platform, dual-native ISO function, and a noteworthy 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor.
Alongside this 2023 update, DJI also unveiled the more powerful Osmo Pocket 3, its renowned handheld camera which is also a gimbal in one, offering more impressive specs compared to the previous release. First off, DJI turned its attention to its cameras, now featuring 4K and 120fps-ready lenses that can capture impressive footage while offering stabilization and more controls.
DJI's Avata and Goggles devices may be overshadowed by other drones and tech from the company, but they still offer an intuitive approach toward the experience they bring for a pilot.
Avata 2 will feature improvements to its sensors and cameras that will deliver better quality to its footage, alongside a reworked propeller system, alongside the Goggles 3 which not only offer FPV experiences, but a possible Passthrough for the view on the ground.
