The Biden-Harris Administration has unveiled the President's Budget for Fiscal Year 2025, which allocates funding to support various endeavors, including NASA's space exploration and climate research efforts.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson emphasized the significance of investing in NASA, highlighting its role in advancing space exploration, scientific discovery, and cutting-edge technology.
"As history has proven, as the present has shown, and as the future will continue to demonstrate, an investment in NASA is an investment in America for the benefit of humanity," Nelson said in an official statement.
"President Biden's budget will fund our nation's abilities and leadership for the future of space exploration, scientific discovery, cutting-edge technology, climate data, the next generation of aeronautics, and inspiring our future leaders - the Artemis Generation."
Key highlights of the budget include provisions for the Artemis II mission, which will see astronauts orbiting the Moon for the first time in over half a century.
Additionally, the budget supports research on Earth's changing climate, fostering commercial markets in space and encouraging STEM education.
The budget underscores NASA's contribution to the United States' global leadership by investing in initiatives such as the Artemis lunar exploration campaign, which aims to land astronauts, including the first woman and person of color, on the lunar surface.

Funding for Climate Science, Space Tech, STEM, and More
The budget allocates funds for missions and activities in climate science that aim to advance Earth systems science and increase accessibility to climate data. These efforts seek to mitigate natural hazards, support climate action, and manage natural resources more effectively.
Furthermore, the budget prioritizes investment in space technology development to meet NASA's evolving needs and support the growing U.S. space industry. This includes funding for research and development initiatives to keep America at the forefront of space innovation.
The budget also emphasizes support for the aeronautics program, with investments to develop hybrid-electric jet engines and lightweight aircraft structures. These advancements are expected to pave the way for more efficient and environmentally friendly commercial airliners.
Additionally, the budget ensures the continued operation of the International Space Station (ISS) and supports the transition to commercial space stations. NASA will utilize these commercial platforms for scientific research and exploration activities.
Recognizing the importance of diversity in STEM fields, the budget includes funding to increase opportunities at minority-serving institutions. This initiative aims to recruit and retain underrepresented and underserved students in STEM disciplines.
