London, United Kingdom:

Ubertas Consulting, recently awarded AWS Well-Architected Validated Partner status, has announced its first annual awards programme to recognise clients who are significantly engaged and invested in the Amazon Web Services Well-Architected Framework (WAF).

The inaugural Ubertas Consulting Well-Architected Awards 2023 is "a significant milestone," said Cathryn Cust, the Well-Architected Lead at Ubertas, a founding AWS WAF member since its inception in 2018.

"To identify the three winners of this first awards edition, we reviewed hundreds of evaluations performed in 2023," added Ubertas Consulting Founder and Managing Partner John Lacey. He explained the award recipients were selected from among the most exceptional clients across three categories: Most Well-Architected, Most Cloud Mature, and Most Improved Architecture.

The Ubertas Consulting Awards

Lacey explained that the Most Well-Architected Award recognises an organisation that has demonstrated exemplary AWS WAF implementation, demonstrating best practices across the six pillars of security, reliability, performance, cost optimisation, operational excellence, and sustainability.

The winner of this award will have shown excellence in design, implementation, and management and their commitment to long-term success in the cloud, ensuring applications are built on a solid and sustainable foundation.

The Most Cloud Mature Award goes to a company with outstanding achievements in designing and building applications specifically for the cloud environment. It also honours cloud-native principles to create scalable, flexible, and efficient products. The recipient will have demonstrated best practices and innovative approaches in cloud development, showcasing the potential of cloud technology to revolutionise how software is built and delivered.

Lastly, the Most Improved Architecture Award celebrates an organisation that has undergone significant and successful transformations in cloud infrastructure. It also recognises demonstrable enhanced design, efficiency, and effectiveness of its cloud architecture, leading to measurable improvements in critical areas like cost optimization, performance, security, or scalability.

AWS Well-Architected Framework

John Lacey explained that the AWS WAF describes key concepts, design principles, and architectural best practices for building and running workloads in the Cloud.

"The WAF is built around six pillars," Lacey said. "These are operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation, and sustainability."

He added that the AWS framework provides a consistent approach for customers and partners to evaluate architectures and implement scalable designs.

"The Well-Architected Framework is the primary tool in the Frugal Architects design toolkit, promoting simple laws for building cost-aware, sustainable, and modern architectures," said John Lacey.

"The AWS Well-Architected Framework helps you understand the pros and cons of decisions you make while building systems on AWS," Amazon explains, adding that a well-architected system significantly increases a business's chance of success.

"Using the Framework helps you learn architectural best practices for designing and operating secure, reliable, efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable workloads in the AWS Cloud," Amazon adds.

AWS Well-Architected Partner Program

The AWS Well-Architected Partner Program (WAPP) enables and empowers AWS Partners to deliver maximum value to their customers by aligning workloads with AWS Well-Architected best practices, explained Cathryn Cust.

Cust added that AWS has established the Well-Architected Partner Program to support and scale suitable cloud architectures to help customers identify AWS Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.

When accepted as an AWS WAF partner, Amazon's AWS Global Partner Leaders John Burchett and Dave Gervon wrote, "AWS Partners have proven a practical path for customers to accelerate their business outcomes with Amazon Web Services."

"To support this journey, we're excited to announce the AWS Small and Medium Business Competency, which helps customers find partner solutions that support their business's diverse and evolving needs," they added.

Burchett and Gervon said that for AWS, it's critical to work with experts who understand the unique needs of AWS business clients, including region and industry requirements.
