As an introverted child whose parents moved quite often, oftentimes from city to city and even to different countries, Felix Kim was heavily bullied. His inability to fit in due to his constantly changing landscapes resulted in what he believed to be a "distrust"—because, as Kim describes it, "people distrust what they don't know."
However, Kim's ability to overcome challenging obstacles resulted in a particular discovery: people observed the same trust issues in global business as they do with people themselves. In 2018, Kim quit his job as a corporate attorney and worked to start his own company. Five years later, Redrob was born.
Redrob, a global people search platform that helps bridge the gaps between cultures, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to reorganize the world's people data to enable sales, help with recruitment, and inspire networking across the globe. According to Kim, 65% of the world's population is online, yet few businesses are what he describes as "truly global." However, with Redrob's use of context and cross-border AI, a recruiter can bridge the cultural and information gaps that exist across the world to enable better understanding and create trust.
However, even with this awe-inspiring technology, people are still worried about the concept of cross-border AI. Kim writes that he "understand[s] that new technologies, especially those with the potential to reshape familiar landscapes, can be daunting." However, Kim also states that cross-border artificial intelligence is not about surveillance or intruding into people's personal lives. It is, as he writes: "about facilitating better, more informed interactions across cultures and borders."
Redrob is committed to using ethical AI practices, including data privacy and security. By using cross-border AI in global recruitment, Redrob helps integrate an understanding of cultural nuances, qualifications, and skills around the world. It helps recruiters understand not only the way people work but also how different educational degrees, professional experiences, and skill sets transfer across various cultures. This means that a recruiter in the United States could appreciate the value of a degree from a top university in India or understand the significance of a job title out of Europe.
With all these capabilities, Redrob's cross-border AI transforms global recruitment into a more inclusive, efficient, and fair process. This will help companies find the best talent worldwide by enabling individuals to access opportunities that are normally out of reach.
As of December 2023, Redrob has passed over 200,000 users, and they don't intend to stop there. Felix Kim's goal is to have 3.4 million users by December 2024, and Redrob continues to create patents that are pending in data privacy and context AI, which will increase its capabilities to be a stronger and more dynamic search tool.
With Redrob, Felix Kim wants to help not only break down the borders in the recruitment process but also expose cultures across the globe to specialists who have worked diligently to develop the skills they have today. This will create a stronger workforce and enable employers to seek the best people possible to fill their job openings.
