No more revving up the engine as the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is reborn as an electric vehicle, letting go of its long dependence on the V-engines, for a clean energy motor. Stellantis and Dodge claim that this is the "World's First and Only Electric Muscle Car," and it is indeed a unique release in its class, offering the iconic modern Charger look with clean energy.
Despite this new release from Dodge, the Charger is not yet letting go of its internal combustion engines (ICEs) with future gas-powered cars still under development.
The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is the World's First Electric Muscle
According to Stellantis and Dodge's latest announcement, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is here, and it brings the world's first in the world of muscle cars in the modern age. This is an all-electric take on the Charger Daytona, capable of delivering as much as 670 horsepower for the Scat Pack and 496hp for the R/T, on par with its ICE counterparts.
Dodge claimed that this first model will go into production starting mid-2024, focusing on the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack and the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T designed as two-door coupes. The company is also planning to bring four-door versions of the Scat Pack and R/T models in the future, with production starting in Q1 2025.
What Does the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Bring?
Dodge shared that this is the world's "quickest and most powerful muscle car," with a 0 to 60 mph in only 3.3 seconds. Tim Kuniskis, Dodge's brand chief executive officer also boasts of the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, and this will make the EV roar like it is a Charger Hellcat with a V8 engine, retaining the iconic sound of muscles.
Its batteries offer a 100.5kWh installed capacity and 550 kW peak discharge rate, with Dodge claiming an improved range for the EV. Alongside this, Dodge also brings ICE counterparts coming soon, with the Charger SIXPACK H.O. models.
Stellantis and its Electric Muscle Development
An electric muscle is something that the world expects from companies who make them, but that was not the case for Ford's Mustang Mach-E which was in the body of an SUV. On the other hand, General Motors, another known manufacturer of American muscles, has not yet gotten to that point, and remains unknown if they are planning to bring a modern and clean iteration of its known legendary vehicles.
However, there is one company that is committed to reviving the iconic muscles into clean energy, one that could let it live out its years in the future which would focus on electric cars, and that is Stellantis. It was previously teased by CEO Carlos Tavares that future Dodge electric muscles can replicate the roaring sounds of its V8 counterparts, and it was featured in this current release.
The goal for Dodge is to bring the same experience from its renowned muscle cars which were popular from then until now, to the future of mobility. The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is the world's first and only electric muscle, claiming its rightful title with the innovations and possibilities it will bring all fans and enthusiasts who boast more of the American design.
