Sam Bankman-Fried Wants a 5-Year Prison Sentence, Appeals 'Innocence'
After the monumental guilty verdict against Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced former CEO of FTX is now looking to appeal to the court to shorten his prison sentence, despite no official sentencing being made. Bankman-Fried and his team of lawyers want him to serve around 63 to 78 months only, bringing his prison time to around 5.25 to 6.5 years only.
This 5-year prison sentence appeal claims that SBF is already getting punished enough during this short time behind bars, further saying how he is a "compassionate" and "caring" person who should be allowed to return to society shortly.
No sentences were yet handed down to Bankman-Fried but initial estimates put it at around 100 years, accounting for the seven charges which he was found guilty of.
In the filing by his legal team, it was also added that SBF will also appeal for his "innocence," with a firm belief against the court's findings during his month-long trial.'
Bitcoin's Rally Over $60,000, All-Time High Soon?
Last week, Bitcoin finally left behind the $50,000 threshold in its market value and climbed over to $60,000 and more, centering on the top coin's latest rally which significantly improved its position. While it did not lose its number one spot despite its massive fall from the past years, Bitcoin went as far as around $16,000 which experts thought it would not recover from.
Around early 2024, Bitcoin was still regaining its power, but it already saw it at around $40,000 and climbing rapidly. However, February was the game changer for BTC which saw it soar to around $55,000, and by the time the month closed (including the special leap year this 2024), it was already at $60,000.
This rallying trend by Bitcoin also helped other tokens in the industry gain larger valuations, with Ethereum also going past its slump around the $2,000 mark, now exceeding $3,000, alongside other coins.
