The 'Willy's Chocolate Experience' in Glasgow, Scotland turned out to be a nightmare for parents, children, and fans who were promised a colorful and immersive experience once they got to the site. This was because the organizers reportedly used AI-generated images on their website that captured the world of Wonka, based on English writer, Roald Dahl's children's novel.
Unlike the renowned film adaptations and the generative AI depiction, the warehouse failed to replicate what it promised on the website, with attendees complaining, and going as far as to call the Glasgow police.
AI-Generated Wonka Event Under Fire for Inaccurate Real-Life Depictions
Willy's Chocolate Experience from organizers, House of Illuminati, turned out to be not what they were promised from its original website which showed a colorful and whimsical adaptation from the renowned franchise. Users took out their frustrations on social media platforms and called out the event, saying that they paid around 35 British Pounds for each attendee.
Stuart Sinclair said on a Facebook post that this event in Glasgow promised a "full Willy Wonka experience with chocolate fountains etc." However, Sinclair also shared pictures of the event which display inaccurate real-life depictions of what was promised on the website.
According to a now-deleted post by House of Illuminati, they are "truly sorry" for how the event turned out, saying how they were "let down in many areas" of this Willy Wonka experience. The organizers have since shut down and canceled the event, claiming to refund the payments to the attendees and those who bought tickets.
Glasgow Cops Called, Attendees Call it a 'Scam'
Reports also reported that Scotland police were called to the scene.
Attendees and people who bought tickets to the event went as far as to say that it was a "scam," with many children disappointed and terrified of its turnout, coming to the event and expecting a "once-in-a-lifetime musical experience" but was nothing like what was promised online.
Generative AI Depictions
There is no doubt that AI can make the impossible now, and this centers on the massive developments of various companies towards generative AI and large language models. However, it can be used to scam or hurt people in various ways, with one of the most controversial uses of AI in the present centering on deepfake pornography of celebrities and even people from their communities.
Scams were also rampant during the Super Bowl LVIII period where bad actors used artificial intelligence to create counterfeit tickets and sell them online for a fortune.
The United States is also looking to stem AI's use in the upcoming 2024 US Elections as it proliferates fake news, misleading content, and propaganda that disrupts the right of suffrage.
Companies like OpenAI, Google, Stability AI, Microsoft, and more offer significant developments in their AI image generator tools available widely across the world, but are notorious for their association with dubious online scams.
This latest event from the House of Illuminati faced massive problems from the public, especially as it was not able to deliver its AI-generated teasers of the actual event, causing backlash from the global community.
