Build with Chrome lets you build your imagination, one lego brick at a time

Creativity with the timeless Lego bricks goes virtual as the Danish toymaker partners with Google and launched "Build with Chrome" site on Tuesday. While this is definitely good news for Lego fans, the new website makes it even better with unlimited supplies of Lego bricks.

Users can go to the site and have their own corner online where they can tinker with bricks coming in different shapes, sizes, and color. Anyone can visit the site from any tablet, smartphone, or computer. The interface is very intuitive and using a keyboard, mouse or touchscreen, Lego fanatics can easily manipulate the bricks, put them together, and build with only their imaginations as limit.

"Well, we think the creative freedom of LEGO bricks shouldn't be limited to plastic bins-which is the idea behind Build with Chrome, a collaboration between Chrome and the LEGO Group that brought these colorful bricks to the web using WebGL, a 3D graphics technology. It was originally built by a team in Australia as an experiment, and now we're opening it up to everybody. So now you can publish your wacky creations to any plot of land in the world," announced Google product marketing manager Adrian Soghoian. "To hone your engineering skills and prepare for the upcoming 'THE LEGO MOVIE' you can explore the Build Academy, a series of short tutorials and challenges featuring characters and structures from the film."

The first iteration of "Build with Chrome" was done two years ago in celebration of the golden anniversary of Lego in Australia.

Proud builders can also share their creations through Google+. Likewise, you can see creations of other members of the Lego community through a Google Maps interface. One can explore popular "builds" done by fellow Lego fanatics from different corners of the globe. Those with a Google+ account can also explore the creations of people in their own Circles.

With Build with Chrome, there are limitless Lego possibilities although it can be a bit frustrating that one cannot hold or play with their creations after spending hours building them. Still, it can tickle the imagination during a boring day at work.

A new Lego movie is also coming out in theaters on Feb. 7. The full-length animation production will feature voices of actors such as Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Ferrell. The movie was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
