Madden NFL 15 precisely predicted the outcome of this year's Super Bowl, which it simulated once on the Xbox One's standard Pro difficulty version.
For the ninth time, it correctly predicted the game's victorious end after showing that the Patriots won against the Seahawks. Moreover, it has also accurately predicted the game's final score of 28-24.
Every year, people at EA Sports perform a game of Madden with the aim of predicting the Super Bowl. Their predictions of the game are usually correct, having been able to accurately gauge eight of the past 11 winners.
This year, it was obvious that EA seemed to have the Super Bowl in full control. Apart from correctly predicting the final score, the simulation also foresaw several of the game's play highlights and stats.
Based on Madden's official simulation, the Patriots earned their first points after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made a touchdown pass. However, the actual touchdown was made by Brandon LaFell and not by Rob Gronkowski.
As for predictions on yards and touchdowns, Madden correctly predicted that Brady would throw four touchdowns. However, it was for 328 yards and not the predicted 335 yards.
Julian Edelman, New England Patriots receiver, actually caught nine passes for 109 yards, which is a little different from the simulated eight caught passes for 106 yards.
In the game's second quarter, the Patriots and the Seahawks tied at 14-14 half-time, which Madden predicted to be a lead by the Seahawks at 17-14. The Seahawks had also, as predicted, scored the first points that came out of half-time, albeit with a field goal as opposed to a touchdown.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks gained momentum when Steven Hauschka made a field goal and Doug Baldwin had a touchdown. The team had a 10-point lead against the Patriots.
In the final quarter, the game in real-life and the simulated version seemed to be identical when Brady made a pass to Edelman close to the end zone. At this point, the Patriots scored a touchdown, which led them to win this year's Super Bowl.
Madden also accurately predicted the game's MVP to be Tom Brady. The recognition places him with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana who, like Brady, won three MVP awards in the Super Bowl.
