X Audio, Video Calls Now on Basic Accounts, Non-Premium Users

Elon Musk's X is now offering audio and video calls for all.

The X audio and video call feature which was limited to Premium subscribers only is now expanding to all users of the platform, and yes, that includes the Basic or non-Premium accounts. Even without the monthly subscription that also promises the verification check, users may enjoy the expanded communication features of the platform to connect with their mutuals.

For now, there will be a gradual rollout of the feature that is accessible under the Direct Messages tab, with its full suite of options available.

X Audio and Video Calls Now Coming to Basic Accounts

X engineer Enrique Barragan and CEO Linda Yaccarino both shared the latest feature the social media platform is "slowly rolling out" to all users, with audio and video calls soon available to Basic accounts or non-Premium users. The X team did not reveal in what regions would the rollouts would begin, only advising to check this feature on the DMs and try now.

This follows last year's introduction of the feature where it was first made available to the iOS platform in October, later followed by its availability on Android via the X Premium subscription.

Moreover, this is also an update to Elon Musk's post in early February where he claimed that the feature would be widely available to the users of the social media.

Non-Premium Users May Access X Calling Features

Initially, X released the audio and video calling feature to the Premium subscription platform exclusively, giving only those who are verified a chance to enjoy this said feature.

However, it was not meant to be an exclusive experience as Musk had plans to share this feature with the entire X community, with non-Premium users getting the chance to connect with their mutuals or entirely turn off the experience, depending on their preferences.

X and The Latest Features Available

This year is massive for X, centering on massive features made available to the platform for its different tiers of users, offering more accessibility and ease of use for social media. One of the latest introduced features here is the Passkey support for the app, but it too is seeing a slow rollout as it is only available for US-based iOS users, soon to expand more for other users.

Earlier this February, X is expanding more on experiences on the platform and promoting the love for sports with the latest partnership with BetMGM. Soon, a feature where users may engage in sports betting on X would be possible, now working to deliver the feature, integrating BetMGM directly into the social media and giving wide access to all users.

While there are massive controversies on X, there are still a lot of global users who are patronizing the platform and hold on to the unique experiences available here. Soon, more users are set to have access to X's audio and video calling feature, and this would no longer require having a Premium subscription, as Basic accounts would receive access to contact their friends or family here.
