The rumors behind Google "sunsetting" Gmail later this year are fake, and this was confirmed by the Gmail division themselves via X earlier today. The massive rumor circulated on X, with Gmail becoming one of the top trends on the platform, and many users protesting against this move, with the social media platform branding the shared content as fake and manipulated media.
Google's renowned mail service is here to stay, still offering its services including its latest AI features which the internet company recently unveiled.
Gmail is NOT Sunsetting, X Claims it is Fake
Various users on X have posted screenshots about a Google notice that informed users that it is "sunsetting Gmail," and the public had a lot to say about this, especially as it is their trusted service and default platform. However, this is not true, and the Community Notes feature of X clarified that this is a "fabricated image" but there are people in the comments "taking it seriously."
Other users corroborated this and shared screenshots of the notice from Google Analytics, having the same message to users that Gmail will be gone by August 1, 2024.
X's Community Notes went further as to say that Google did not announce any changes to Gmail or anything about a sunsetting event for the renowned email service.

Gmail is Here to Stay, No Shut Down
This massive fiasco is fake news, with the screenshot regarded as manipulated media by the platform, leading to the Gmail official X account clarifying the rumors, saying that the service is "here to stay."
The recent post from Gmail is still met with skepticism by the public, with many holding on to their beliefs that it is shutting down despite the clarification of the platform.
Gmail and What it Has to Offer
Perhaps one of the most popular instant electronic mail apps is Gmail, and this is because, throughout the years, it gave users a chance to use it easily, alongside significant features for an overall light experience. Moreover, Gmail also introduced last year the ability to stop spam senders from flooding one's inboxes, centering on new policies that would help the user.
While Gmail users enjoyed the basic version of the platform before, best known as the Basic HTML view, it will soon be gone from the platform and stick to the standard version. This is the part of Gmail that will be shut down or sunset by the company, but it also saw backlash from the public as it provided a way to check and send emails even on poor connections.
Google introduced massive features to Gmail including the arrival of generative AI, as well as the ability to customize the experience paired with the Material You themes. The latest buzz about Gmail centered on a possible "sunsetting" this August, but this is not true, with X claiming that it is a hoax, fake, and the screenshot notices that are spreading online are manipulated.
