One of the latest features of Android Auto is getting Google's AI to help with message summaries, with the renowned internet company recently explaining how it would work for users. To date, Google has not yet released the Android Auto's AI message summarization feature, but it will soon arrive said the company, offering a way to get informed while on the drive.
This feature is also best known for being a highlight of Google Assistant, the previous AI-powered assistive tech of the company before its Gemini AI.
Here's How Android Auto AI Message Summaries Work
A recent support document from Google expounds on Android Auto's latest technology that helps summarize messages sent to one's Android smartphone while connected to the hands-free driving system. First off, this current technology is powered by Android Auto, also stating that it is not yet widely available for all devices, regions, countries, and languages.
You can receive message summaries of long messages on your Assistant-enabled Android device.
Through artificial intelligence, users may get a summarized version of their messages that the feature would announce while driving after tapping "Play aloud." However, the summarization would only work for "one long message or multiple messages from the same sender or group."
Google considers a message long if it has over 40 words.
Google to Bring Android Auto's AI Features Soon
9to5Google said that the Google Assistant-powered version of this feature is coming later this year, centering on the Android Auto AI features to deliver. Users may choose to opt in or turn off this feature via the Android Auto platform by going to Settings > Notifications > and turning on or off the Play AI option.
Google's AI and What it Has to Offer
For this year alone, Google already announced massive things to expect from its artificial intelligence developments, some that are already available, and more coming in the future. Alongside Samsung's Galaxy S24 series unveiling, Google is also bringing new features for the smartphone via the cloud, paired with the Android Auto AI features including message summarization.
The latest from Google is the Gemini AI, and while the company announced its arrival right before the year ended in late December, 2024 was the time when people got to fully experience it. Google regarded this as the most advanced AI technology from its development yet, centering on a multimodal model that is capable of bringing faster results, improved capabilities, and more.
Some users already got a preview of the Assistant AI helping summarize messages while connected to Android Auto, but it is not yet entirely accurate in its current iteration said the company. The massive capabilities of Google's generative AI powers Android Auto's new feature, reading aloud the message summaries for users for an uninterrupted driving experience.
