Elon Musk is not letting his renowned clean energy and car company fall behind in the race to bring AI-powered features, as the CEO recently revealed Tesla's investments towards new NVIDIA and AMD AI chips for its Dojo. The goal is to bring a next-generation Tesla Dojo supercomputer for a still undisclosed purpose, centering on some of the world's most powerful AI hardware.
In the latest revelation of the CEO, Tesla is pouring in billions for this hardware purchase from the two companies, justifying the large amount.
Elon Musk to Use NVIDIA, AMD for Tesla's Dojo
A new reply from Elon Musk (via X) revealed the company's plans to deliver a new Dojo supercomputer, now under development from the company, and clarified that it will not only rely on NVIDIA's renowned H100 chips. Musk also revealed the cost of these H100 AI chips, a sum of $500 million will only get the company around 10,000 processors from the Santa Clara company.
X user @WhatsupFranks asked the billionaire about any plans to buy AMD's AI chips, to which Musk confirmed that it will also purchase from the rival brand.
Musk revealed that Tesla will be spending more than the aforementioned figure, also acknowledging that half a billion is already a massive sum for this investment.

New Supercomputer: Tesla Invests Billions
Based on Musk's statements and confirmation, Tesla will invest billions to create this new Dojo supercomputer, considering both NVIDIA's H100 and AMD's MI300 AI chips for the project.
It is unknown how the company will make this work, but it is expected to be a new custom supercomputer for Tesla, focused on developing its self-driving technology.
Tesla Dojo and its Developments
Back when artificial intelligence was not yet at the point where it was generative, Tesla was one of the renowned brands that talked about AI and how the company was building it to create a neural network. This supercomputer will help run its massive AI development, which in turn would help the company bring improvements and upgrades for its Autopilot, 4D imaging, and more.
A whitepaper about the Tesla Dojo was released by the company in 2021, and this offered the world deep insights into what it is trying to create for the renowned car brand, focusing on massive improvements for the tech. Musk also boasted of the Dojo's capabilities to teach its autonomous driving systems top-notch developments, promising "zero accidents" for self-driving tech.
Last year, Tesla debuted the Dojo ExaPod supercomputer, created with custom AI chips that are capable of bringing as much as 1.1 exaflops to train its autonomous driving tech.
Now, the company and its chief tease the possibility of a new supercomputer or an upgrade to the Dojo, relying on NVIDIA and AMD's top AI chips to bring the power to its EVs.
