Gravity Industries has revealed that the world's first jet suit race is set to take place in Dubai on February 28. The Dubai Sports Council, in collaboration with Gravity Industries, will host the event, marking a historic moment in aerial sports.
Jet Race Signals the Start of New Era of Exciting Aerial Sporting Action
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, expressed his excitement about the event, emphasizing that it signifies a new era of thrilling aerial sports globally.
"This race signals the beginning of a new era of exciting aerial sporting action globally and it is a true reflection of Dubai's soaring spirit of enterprise as well as the human capacity to overcome challenges," Mansoor said in a statement.
"The event also goes to highlight Dubai's uniqueness and boundless energy in presenting to the world novel ideas that combine innovation, adventure and ambition that push the boundaries of human imagination and open the way for still greater achievements and innovations across the world," he added.
The announcement was made during a recent ceremony at Burj Park, adjacent to the iconic Burj Khalifa. The ceremony included addresses from key figures, including Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Richard Browning, Founder and Chief Test Pilot of Gravity Industries, and Samer Al Shammari, Director of the Race.
A live demonstration featuring three competitors in jet suits added to the excitement as they soared over the Dubai Fountain near Burj Park. The upcoming jet race will feature eight contestants from various countries, including UAE's Ahmed Al Shehhi.

As part of the preparations for the event, an agreement was signed between the Dubai Sports Council and Gravity Industries to organize the "Dubai Jet Suit Race" on February 28. The event coincides with the Dubai International Boat Show, allowing spectators to witness the unique aerial competition.
The jet suit racing competition is set to take place in the area between Dubai Harbor and Skydive Dubai, with the designated expanse of water and its depth found fit for the sport. Competitors will use specially designed suits designed to protect them from drowning and extra buoyancy.
