Fans may see James Bond driving an electric vehicle (EV) in the beloved character's next film. This was teased by Lucid Motors CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson following the company's ongoing supply agreement with Aston Martin.
Ian Fleming's Super Spy has captivated viewers worldwide for decades with exciting stories and thrilling action scenes involving car chases. Actor Daniel Craig's 15-year tenure in the role ended in "No Time to Die," leaving fans in anticipation of the next Agent 007.

James Bond Driving an Electric Aston Would Be 'Cool'
Taking into consideration the popularity of the Aston Martin DB5 in past films, seeing James Bond driving an electric Aston would be a dashing scene. Rawlinson's comments at Lucid Motors' AMP-1 manufacturing facility's ribbon-cutting event hinted that James Bond may soon drive an electric Aston Martin powered by Lucid's unique technology, per Electrek.
Rawlinson noted: "It is little wonder that Aston Martin chose our Sapphire technology, and certainly, Lucid will be powering the Aston Martins of the future, and a little bird tells me that maybe Mr. Bond will be powered by Lucid as a consequence. Won't that be cool?"
Rawlinson's suggestion that James Bond drive an EV fits with current automotive trends and the franchise's love of innovation in technology.
Lucid Motors provides $450 million in electric powertrain technology to Aston Martin. Both firms' dedication to sustainable transportation is shown by the high-performance dual motor unit, cutting-edge battery technology, and innovative charging system. Hence, the Lucid Motors-Aston Martin alliance can make the iconic character drive an electric car in his action-packed missions. As fans wait for the announcement of the next James Bond actor, the idea of him driving an electric Aston Martin adds excitement to the successful franchise's future.
Challenges in Sales and Production
In other news, Lucid Motors struggled to boost luxury electric sedan sales in 2023. Production and sales were far off, with 8,428 automobiles produced but only 6,001 delivered. In the fourth quarter, output fell 31%, and deliveries fell 10% from 2022, according to a report from TechCrunch. Moreover, the EV manufacturer laid off around 1,300 employees and cut down production targets.
Despite these hurdles, Lucid Motors remains committed to its employees' job security. According to Steven David, Senior Vice President of Operations at Lucid, employees feel confident about their job stability, with no concerns about future layoffs. David ascribed this assurance to the business's proactive approach to issue resolution, which involves tackling problems like production bottlenecks and putting workable solutions in place.
Despite the challenges of 2023, Lucid Motors is bullish about its future. "There's no reason to be concerned. Again, our focus is looking at each problem and how we go about solving each problem," David remarked, according to AOL.
