The Apple Car is Coming in 2028, New EV Rumors Claim ‘Limited Autonomy’

Apple's electric car has a target date for its release.

The long-rumored and anticipated electric vehicle project by Apple, the Apple Car, is now seeing massive rumors regarding its target release date which would arrive this 2028. Its plans to deliver the upcoming electric vehicle fall within this decade, but its development took almost one and a half decades should it arrive in the said year, centering on its first take on cars.

Should this latest rumor be true, the Apple Car will make its debut in four years' time, but there is a caveat in its features, with limited autonomy offered by the EV.

The Apple Car is Coming in 2028 says Rumors

Bloomberg reported a new development for the Apple Car, and it claimed that the renowned "Project Titan" already has its target release date, coming this 2028. Should this arrive in four years, this will be Apple's first car to deliver to the world, ushering in a new era for the Big Tech company that centers on automotive as its newfound business.

One of the main rumors present behind the Apple Car is that it will have no steering wheels, with the EV meant to offer self-driving capabilities that will get passengers from point A to B. It was said that Project Titan's early goal was to deliver Level 4 autonomy or a full self-driving car.

However, earlier reports said that this plan has been scrapped, and it is no longer pushing for full autonomy for the said timeline.

'Limited Autonomy' for Apple Car 2028

The latest report claims that instead of full self-driving, the Apple Car would be offered in "limited autonomy," with 9to5 Mac comparing this feature to Tesla's current offers for its FSD and Autopilot. This would require drivers to pay attention when driving on highways, streets, and other roads, and to intervene whenever needed.

Moreover, with limited autonomy, it was said that the Apple Car's 2028 plans to release would be more realistic, and possible for its target availability.

Apple Car and its Long Development

Since 2015, rumors behind Apple's venture into the automotive business have been born, and it talked about the company's plans to deliver its take on an electric vehicle with full autonomy.

In 2021, the world saw the first renders of the Apple Car, and it would be in a crossover SUV form, claiming that these images were based on Apple's patents, and corroborated by Vanarama, a UK leasing company.

Throughout the years, there were talks regarding Apple looking for partners that will help them develop and manufacture this new electric vehicle alongside them. However, many brands were mentioned but subsequently backed down, with reports claiming that one of the top reasons behind this is because Apple's demands are "difficult to meet."

One of the recurring features that the Apple Car will bring to the world is full autonomy, and it would have no steering wheels on the company's release of these units.

The latest report from Bloomberg reignited the aspirations for Cupertino's first take on electric vehicles, and coming as soon as 2028, the Apple Car will feature limited autonomy for the world.
