The Elec's latest report highlights the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 this year, but instead of talking about the new features it will bring, it centered on a new variant setup for its lineup. Samsung was said to be looking into offering an "entry-level" variant of the foldable that will help increase more of the public's interest, particularly with its "penetration rate" in the market.

To be more particular, Samsung is looking into penetrating the Chinese foldable market, currently sitting in third place against its competitors in the region.

Compared to the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, and Huawei, the South Korean tech giant's foldable smartphones are on the more premium price points and are selling less compared to its competitors.

What to Expect from Galaxy Z Fold 6's Budget Variant

However, according to 9to5 Mac, Samsung's foldable smartphones have long been speculated for its plans to offer a more affordable price, one that will make sense to the masses for their purchase. It is unknown what type of changes Samsung will bring for its budget foldable variant for the Z Fold 6, if it would skimp on the chipset to deliver, or its body parts that currently use the revised hinges.

Samsung Foldable Smartphones Plans in 2024

Back in November 2023, there were talks regarding the massive change that Samsung is planning for its foldable devices offered to the world, and this focuses on offering it at a much cheaper price compared to its regular rates. The goal of the company is to offer more affordable foldable smartphones by 2024, looking to increase more of its adoption and compete against other brands.

However, reports claimed that it would not be a simple price reduction for the foldables as it would be cheaper by half as much as the regular lineup releases, centering on both the Z Flip and Z Fold devices. For around $400 to $500, customers may be able to cop a foldable from Samsung, claims the leaker, more than half the price of the renowned Z Fold 5.

While there are still no specific details behind the upcoming budget version of its Galaxy foldable, expectations already look into what changes it will bring compared to the regular releases. In the latest report, the direction Samsung is taking is going towards the route of offering an "entry-level" to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's lineup, with fewer of its premium features for more cost-effective pricing.
