Regarded as one of the top AI companies in the world, OpenAI is reportedly looking in a different direction, particularly in this aspiration by its founder and reinstated CEO, Sam Altman, to build AI chips and hardware. In this newfound aspect of the AI business, the company is looking to launch a massive development of said chips, now looking to raise billions for the venture.
There have been massive successes in the field of AI chips, mostly because they remain unsaturated from the many manufacturers present.

Bloomberg reported a new development over at OpenAI which highlights the company's returned CEO, Sam Altman, looking to push the company towards a different venture from its software tech. It said that Altman is looking to develop AI chips and other forms of hardware in the future, with OpenAI venturing towards a new frontier for its artificial intelligence technology.
In the report, it regarded that the company is looking to bring a "network of factories" across the world, partnering with different "top chip manufacturers" to do its bidding.
According to The Verge, Nvidia saw a massive return on its investments in AI chips, with this part of the business helping it rise to a more than $1 trillion valuation.
Multi-Billion Venture for AI Chips on OpenAI
With this plan in mind, Sam Altman is looking to raise an unspecified amount of money for the said venture to get started, targeting billions for the project. This follows the massive focus of other companies looking to develop their versions of the AI chips, processors, or GPUs that would help improve the learning and development of its tech for further capabilities.
AI Chips and the Companies Behind It
In 2023, Nvidia has risen to the occasion in supplying the world with AI chips, and this is the company's massive business in the present which earned them massive revenue. It all started with the company's announcement last May, citing that it is partnering with AI companies regarding a new GPU lineup that would use its tech to develop models and more.
This is with the renowned H100 AI chips that Nvidia worked on to deliver advanced computing, and this was made in its factory in China, despite the export ban against the East Asian superpower.
Joining this massive development hails two companies from Big Tech, including Amazon and Intel who are both looking to self-produce its AI chips for its significant push in developing their respective experiences.
With Nvidia having massive control of the market and its AI hardware venture proving to be earning them massive numbers, other companies are also aspiring to make their mark known in this development.
