CES 2024: BrainChip CEO Says There's AI Everywhere, Reveals Challenge in Deploying the Tech

BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir gives us a vivid glimpse into the AI festivity unfolding at CES 2024.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the biggest and most anticipated tech show of the year. But the 2024 event had a recurring theme - everything is brimming with artificial intelligence (AI).

Visitors are met with AI-powered products from every booth. There is an AI for pools, pets, cars, and almost everything you could imagine. This was the most notable observation by Sean Hehir, the CEO of BrainChip, an AI software company based in New South Wales, Australia.

CES 2024: 'All Things AI'

BrainChip launched a podcast series titled "All Things AI," live at CES 2024. In an episode released on Thursday, January 11, Hehir provides a vivid glimpse into the AI festivity unfolding in Las Vegas.

"When I walked the hall today, first of all, you could not see a single product or vendor that did not have AI behind its name or in front of its name - AI for pets, AI for pool cleaners, AI for home maintenance, everything," Hehir said.

The BrainChip executive noted that this is the dawn of the next generation of change in the tech industry ushered in by AI. The fact that this technology is dominating no less than the CES 2024 may indicate how it is reaching its peak.

While it is important to note that AI has always been there, the general public acceptance of AI and its seamless integration into the daily life of modern society has never been more prominent than in the past two years.

This was particularly true when OpenAI launched its AI chatbot ChatGPT in 2022, which spurred an AI race between various tech giants.

"It just highlights that this technology is really the dawn of a next generation of change in our society. So it's pretty hard not to be excited about the possibilities where AI is going," Hehir noted.

Brainchip traces its technological roots in as early as 2004. Since then, the company has specialized in developing machine learning hardware and advanced AI products.

With the ever-growing popularity of AI, Hehir shared his insights about the challenges that companies could face as they increasingly offer more AI products on the market. He emphasized that simplicity is a key for this technology to thrive further.

"What's very clear in customer conversations is that while they're interested in deploying, they need to make sure they can do it in a very simple standard way, so they're looking for companies like us that have proven track records in tools and processes that make it easy to do the integration work that they're looking for," Hehir said.

"That's the key. If it's too hard, too complex, it'll move on. So the key part of our offering is to make sure what we offer is easy to integrate and easy to deploy," he added.

Brainchip on AI Human Behavior Analysis

Brainchip also tried to make a mark on the ongoing exhibition show after unveiling an AI-enabled human behavioral analysis together with NVISO, a company that specializes in human behavior AI software.

The newly introduced technology is capable of analyzing signals of human behavior, including facial expressions, identity, head poses, gaze, structures, and objects with which humans interact.
