Samsung is shaking up its annual routine with the first Unpacked event of 2024 scheduled for January 17 at 1 PM ET, a departure from its usual early February timing. The event is set to take place at the SAP Center in San Jose and will also be live-streamed across Samsung's various platforms.

While Samsung remains tight-lipped about specific details for this year's Unpacked, speculations abound. The primary expectation is the unveiling of the Galaxy S24 flagship smartphone series, with the possibility of immediate pre-orders opening after the event.
Engadget reported that Samsung has initiated a "pre-reserve" program, allowing users to register their interest with their name and email address ahead of the official announcement.
Although the precise contents of the pre-order remain undisclosed until January 17, participants in the program receive a $50 credit towards their purchase. This move mirrors a similar strategy employed by Samsung in the past, suggesting its effectiveness in generating early interest and engagement with potential consumers.
What to Expect
As the highly awaited event approaches, during which the tech giant traditionally reveals its cutting-edge innovations, camera enthusiasts can anticipate notable improvements to the camera algorithms.
This anticipation is underscored by the prominent inclusion of the "Galaxy AI" theme in the teaser imagery. Another highlight of this year's event is the anticipated debut of Samsung's new ISOCELL Zoom capabilities, signaling another leap in smartphone photography.
Samsung currently holds the lead for the farthest-reaching optical zoom on a mainstream smartphone, and the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to build upon the success of its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, offering even sharper imaging.
Additionally, Gizmodo's report suggests the Ultra model may feature a titanium build, introducing a formidable contender to the design arena alongside competitors like the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max.
Another focal point for tech enthusiasts is the AI segment of the Samsung Unpacked event, as stated in its press release. The introduction of a new bot, reportedly named Gauss, is expected to join Google's Gemini on Samsung's Android devices.
