Former Batman Forever star Val Kilmer who has several blockbusters to his credit has been rushed to hospital due to bleeding. It is suspected that the 55-year-old actor may be suffering from throat tumor.
On Monday, Jan. 26, Kilmer was hurried to the hospital after 911 received a call from his Malibu home. The Heat star was reportedly "bleeding from his mouth."
"We received a call at 11:31 p.m. from that address," revealed a Santa Monica Fire Department spokesperson. "He was transported ALS [advanced life support] to the hospital."
Kilmer was taken to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica where doctors conducted a surgery. The actor is said to be recovering.
The actor's family members are reportedly upset with him for neglecting the throat tumor and allowing it to worsen.
While it is not clear if Kilmer - who starred in Hollywood blockbusters like Top Gun alongside Tom Cruise - was a chain smoker, he has been spotted smoking cigarettes in 2005 during a photo call for the critically acclaimed play "The Postman Always Rings Twice" in London.
In October 2014, Kilmer appeared at a small claims report in connection with a land dispute case over renovations made in the home and told the judge that he could not speak owing to a swollen tongue.
In December 2014, he was spotted enjoying an LA Clippers game and had a grey sweater covering his neck. The star was last seen on Friday, Jan. 16 at a Lakers game with son Jack. Kilmer had a deep grey scarf wrapped around his neck at the time. The star looked worn down.
While his family has been aware of the actor's health condition, Kilmer has never spoken about the ailment publicly. Kilmer has two children - his son Jack and daughter Mercedes. The actor was married for 8 years to Joanne Whalley.
There is no public statement from Kilmer's representative on the situation as of the time of writing. Here's wishing him a speedy recovery!
