Many consider Grand Theft Auto V as one of the best games in the franchise, but some feel that it lacks more on the story aspect-so when claims of story DLCs further expanding the game, everyone was excited.
However, they were not released then, and there will be no releases now, as it was reportedly canceled by Rockstar Games, with new leaks detailing what could have been more to GTA V.
Grand Theft Auto V: Canceled Story DLC Leak
A user named Synth Potato has shared via X the latest leak from Rockstar Games, and this is not talking about GTA VI.
This points out to the leaked source code of GTA V, the current-gen release from Rockstar which is considered long overdue. It was pointed out by the leaker that this code revealed that the developers have much more in store for GTA V, and this is through story DLCs that it once planned to deliver for gamers.
However, these DLCs were canceled and never made it into a release, but some of those were included in GTA Online, yet it no longer uses the iconic GTA V characters like Trevor Phillips, Michael DeSanta (Townley), and Franklin Clinton.
GTA V: Rockstar's Planned DLC Stories
There were three story DLCs planned, and this includes the "Agent Trevor," "Prologue DLC," and "LibertyV."
Agent Trevor was repurposed as the renowned event in GTA Online called "The Doomsday Heist."
Next, there was the Prologue DLC, which was the supposed backstory that expanded more on Trevor and Michael's ventures in North Yankton.
Lastly, LibertyV was the supposed map expansion that would bring Liberty City to GTA V.
The Grand Theft Auto Franchise
It has been ten years since the last AAA-rated game from Rockstar was released, and back in September 2013, Grand Theft Auto V made its way for all to play. Rockstar gave the world an iconic release for GTA V, debuting the first-ever character switching from the franchise which helped expand more of the game, character perspectives, and the story that weaved the people in Liberty City.
Because of the long development from Rockstar Games, the GTA V release daw three different Sony PlayStation consoles where it was made available. Originally, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto V on the PlayStation 3, but it was later made available and optimized for the PS4.
However, it was also made available to the latest PlayStation 5, optimized to its new hardware and improved quality, giving faster loading times for all.
Three years after the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X were introduced, it was only in December 2023 when Rockstar debuted the trailer and confirmation of the next title in the series, GTA VI.
In those ten years, Rockstar Games could have given gamers GTA V DLCs to alleviate the wait time, but it was canceled, leaving gamers with their imagination on what could have been the extension of the renowned game.
