Steam Library: Hide Games from Your Profile to Avoid Shame—Privacy Feature Coming

Online accounts reveal a lot, but Steam will make sure nothing gets out.

The latest update from Valve for the Steam platform is centering on a privacy feature that will let gamers hide the games they do not want others to see on their profiles. This will give users the option to mark games as "private," and this in turn will remove them from the list of titles that can be seen on their profiles, allowing them to have peace of mind in their experience.

Its latest feature will be available to use in three places on the Steam platform, and not only on their profiles.

In the latest update from Valve on the Steam platform, the company has added a new privacy feature that will allow users to hide certain games and titles from their profile. One of the main focuses of this feature is to prevent friends, mutuals, or the general public from knowing what games you are playing on a specific account.

With this feature, users may opt to make a certain game or different titles private, something that the account owner can only see from their access.

This comes alongside the set of new features in the Shopping Cart for Steam users, offering a new way to purchase games for friends, allowing them to do it in multiple or bulk. Additionally, users may access one cart for all devices, provided that they are logged in to a single account.

Steam's New Privacy Feature: Now Accessible

This new Steam Privacy feature is now accessible in three different places on the platform, with the main focus centering on a user's game list. It is also available to mark as private for the shopping cart and the Steam Client's Library to prevent others from knowing.

For the Steam Client Library, users can hide games by going to Settings > Manage and then choosing the titles that they want to make private.

Steam and What it Offers

One of the main reasons for Steam's popularity is its platform, the go-to marketplace for gamers to buy new games and in-game purchases, offering a massive library of eligible titles for the PC and its handheld console. There are also many promotions from the company including discounts on new titles, and Valve also offers a list of free games to download from time to time.

The company's recent foray into hardware, centering on its handheld gaming console grew in popularity, with the Steam Deck known for being a staple in the portable tech industry. Most recently, the company released the next-gen version of the handheld, with the Steam Deck OLED offering an upgraded gaming experience with its new display, alongside better capabilities.

With Valve best known for being one of the staples in the gaming industry now, especially for PCs and handhelds, online experiences are also massive in the platform. That being said, if you are protecting your image or upholding a reputation regarding your gaming, then this new Steam platform feature would be a massive help in hiding games that you do not want others to discover from you.
