Many years have passed since Tesla first unveiled the concept behind the upcoming electric sports car of the company, the Roadster, but until now, there is no news about where the company is in its development. It was originally slated for a 2020 release, but it did not appear for sale or showcase, with many expecting the original EV of the company to get a modern upgrade.
Six years later, here we are, awaiting any news about the Tesla Roadster, if it will ever arrive from the clean energy company.
Tesla Roadster: Is the Sports EV Ever Coming?
The Tesla website still has the placeholder and page for the Roadster, and what this means is that the electric sports car is not discontinued or canceled by the company for release. It also holds a "Reserve Now" button for those interested in purchasing the renowned sports car of the company which it first unveiled in 2017.
Six years later, there are still no concrete release dates for the revamped Tesla Roadster, with the company not yet addressing why it sees further delays.
While Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously confirmed that the electric vehicle will arrive by 2023, there have still been no announcements until now regarding its arrival. However, he did say "Assuming 2022 is not mega drama," but then came unexpected problems for the company, including the massive probe regarding its Autopilot and FSD tech.
What to Expect from the Tesla Roadster
The Tesla Roadster previewed its enhanced look before, and it brought significant improvements from before, with a more sleek and modern body featuring a two-door coupe with a top-down roof configuration.
It will feature a four-seater setup, with two rear seats added.
It will also feature 19-inch wheels, a tri-motor drivetrain, powerful batteries, and an option for the SpaceX Thruster Package for an added boost.
Tesla's Original EV: The Roadster
The original electric vehicle concept from Tesla was the Roadster, and it was when Elon Musk and the company first envisioned a clean energy car that could compete with the then-current cars on the road. Its first EV also took inspiration from one of the top sports cars of its time, the Lotus Elise, with the concept also sent to space in 2018, alongside Starman, its mascot.
In 2017, the company unveiled that it would be reviving the Roadster with a modern upgrade that would completely change its looks, and what it has to offer and feature a more exciting experience for all. It was said that it would begin production in 2022, and it was also claimed before that it would be available come 2023, but sadly, the Tesla Roadster is not yet announced or available to purchase.
For now, it is all hopes and dreams for Tesla Roadster fans as the vehicle is still behind a massive cover, with the company not yet releasing any information about it, one that confirms its official arrival. With the company focusing on the Cybertruck production and deliveries, the Roadster is a massive, unfilled void from Tesla, with the promising features remaining on paper.
