More Features to Come in 2024
The collaborative effort promises ongoing updates, with new world-building features and LEGO-style outfits scheduled to arrive in early 2024.
LEGO Fortnite is free on various platforms, including PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC on Epic Games Store, and cloud-based gaming streaming services.
The game is built within Fortnite and powered by Unreal Engine 5, incorporating features like Chaos physics and destruction for a realistic building experience.
Four giant LEGO brick-built Supply Llamas have appeared in key cities like New York, London, Tokyo, and Sydney to celebrate the launch.
Standing 12 feet tall and made from 234,623 Lego bricks, these installations allow fans to engage in family-building activities during the launch weekend. Unreal Engine is playing a crucial role in the collaboration, with the companies working on creating digital twins for thousands of physical LEGO elements.
These digital twins will be available in Fortnite's Creative tools in 2024, bridging the gap between physical and digital play. The partnership between LEGO and Epic Games aims to unveil several more LEGO-themed games within Fortnite, starting in early 2024.
"LEGO Fortnite offers players a new way to express themselves through worldbuilding and is an important step forward in the evolution of the Fortnite ecosystem," said Epic Games CEO and founder Tim Sweeney.
"We look forward to continuing to partner with The LEGO Group to build immersive digital play spaces that are fun for kids and all types of players," he added.
