Google's Workspace Suite is not the only platform to experience assistive tech, as an upcoming update for the Chrome PC app will soon get its generative AI assistant to appear and help users. This is through the "Help Me Write" AI, currently available in Gmail, Docs, Messages, and other apps with AI integration, with the feature highly accessible to all.
Chrome's version of the AI will center on a pop-up that will appear whenever a user is typing into a text field, for example, when looking to post via social media.
Google Chrome to Get the 'Help Me Write' AI
'Help Me Write' AI will soon make its way to Chrome's web browser app for PCs, with Google referring to this as the "Compose" or "CCO" feature, but under the same branding of its renowned generative AI. It is similar to the feature present on Google Docs, Messages, Keep, Gmail, and more, appearing whenever users type something on text fields online.
The code is currently hidden in chrome://flags, and it will be available for users to access on the page itself, or via the right-click menu on the browser.
According to 9to5 Google, this generative AI assistant is expected to arrive by Chrome's version 122 release, which is set for February 2024 or later.
'Help Me Write' AI to Pop-Up When Typing
Like the feature live in the Workspace suite now, the Help Me Write AI for Chrome will pop up whenever a user is typing in the text field, and it is available on different websites and social media platforms. It could create content based on prompts, but it can also scan the webpage's content to get more context, with Google's AI helping deliver "contextual writing suggestions for reviews, posts, and more."
Google's AI Developments Now
For almost the entirety of 2023, Google has focused widely on its AI developments, and this is with the massive presence of the technology in its products. Bard, its AI chatbot, was given massive features and experiences available for the public to access, including the capability to answer questions regarding YouTube videos as it was recently allowed to understand the uploads.
Google DeepMind also plays a massive part in the company's AI development for different products and executions, with its recent tech arriving as a generative AI for YouTube. This offers new tools called Dream Track and Lyria, which is helpful in various content creation needs for the streaming platform.
AI saw a massive integration in the world of technology today, with different companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and more introducing their take on artificial intelligence. Apart from the Workspace suite, Google's Chrome web browser for PCs is also getting the generative AI known as 'Help Me Write,' to help users in composing write-ups as they type online.
