The Canary Channel is now letting users test this Energy Saver mode.

It is essential for smartphones to have battery and energy-saving features, so why do computers lag? Well, that is no longer a question left unanswered as Microsoft has released a new 'Energy Saver' feature for computers. Meant for the Windows 11 operating system on laptops and desktop PCs, the company is now testing a feature via its insider preview, hopefully, a feature that we will receive.

In the latest blog post from Microsoft, the company introduced the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26002, with its latest feature centering on the Energy Saver which offers a way to improve consumption.

This new feature "extends and enhances" the battery saver already available on Windows computers.

It is an easy way to extend battery life and reduce energy use by trading off some system performance. It can be toggled on and off via Quick Settings in the system tray or configured to run automatically whenever the device reaches a certain battery percentage. While optimized to extend battery life, energy saver will be available when PCs are plugged in (this includes desktop PCs) for those aiming to conserve energy all the time.

Energy Saver Still in Canary Channel Preview

Microsoft said that the Energy Saver feature and Build 26002 are still under testing, and the company did not reveal any dates for when it would be available to access by the public. For those wanting to experience this feature, they may head on over to the Canary Channel under the Windows Insider program to get the latest build for Windows 11.

Microsoft's Development for Windows 11

As one of Microsoft's leading products offered to the world, Windows 11 gets a lot of attention and developments from the company, offering significant improvements and features to expand more of its capabilities. Most computers in the world use the Windows OS, so new features like the recent monitor refresh rate update that helps with power usage and GPU performance are welcome upgrades.

It is true that while Windows is the top distributed OS in the world, it still faces massive competition with Apple's macOS, especially with its renowned features that offer the best of mobile and computer. With that, Microsoft is making certain updates on par with that of Apple, including its enhancements to provide fingerprint or face recognition signups for PCs.

There are already 400 million PCs that have Windows 11 installed worldwide, and while it saw a slower adoption rate, it still shows the dominance Microsoft has in the computer world. This new feature announcement available via the insider preview will help improve more of users' computers, its performance, battery life, and consumption, with Energy Saver being a promising update, now being tested.
