Expect delays and disappointments for one of the best Star Wars games there is, as according to the latest reports, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is not seeing any work done regarding its remake development. This was amidst the massive worries from fans that the anticipated return of the game is taking a long time from those who took on the challenge to bring it back for modern consoles.
This Star Wars game was based on a comic book regarding the intergalactic story from George Lucas, but not exactly part of its canon storyline.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Not Seeing Progress on Remake
Jeff Grubb has revealed on Giant Bomb's Game Mess Mornings Twitch stream that there is no work done on the development of Star Wars KOTOR's remake from Saber Interactive and the Embracer Group. This claim said that no studios are doing the work for revamping the Knights of the Old Republic to the modern platforms, with the gaming industry believing that it is already "dead in the water."
According to ComicBook Gaming, this follows the recent "troubling updates" that surround the game's development, in hopes for its future re-release.
While Aspyr Media was the original developer of the game, its owner, Saber Interactive, took the helm on KOTOR's development, among the biggest changes in its development.
Will the Star Wars KOTOR See a Delay for its Release?
With this information, there are now fears that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic's remake may either see a delay for its yet unconfirmed release date or entirely scrap the project. Still, there is hope for KOTOR as others may step in and continue the work, with Sony and Lucasfilm to possibly work on the game.
However, there are still no announcements regarding this, with KOTOR seeing no developments.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Star Wars released one of the best games in its franchise back in 2003, and the Knights of the Old Republic became a massive series that spanned into five games. Its fame is unquestionable, as it is regarded as the "GOAT" of the franchise, with fans who are dedicated to bringing it back took it upon themselves to create a remake using the Unreal Engine 4, years ago.
Back in 2021, it was confirmed by one of its original developers, Aspyr, that the original KOTOR game is getting a remake, with the company also said to be part of its development.
This news has been a massive one for fans and gamers, especially as it was further confirmed via the PlayStation Showcase in 2021 that it will arrive on the PS5.
Two years later, there have been fewer updates from Saber Interactive and Embracer, the companies in charge of its remake and development, with many claiming that it is already "dead." With Grubb's recent report and sentiments regarding the game, there is either a massive slump within the team, as there have been no progress or works done for KOTOR's beloved return.
