Hyundai has presented the 2024 Santa Fe, a new iteration of its sport utility vehicle, at the AutoMobility LA show, adopting an "Open for More" concept emphasizing expanded utility.
Developed with a wider liftgate opening and spacious interior, the 2024 Santa Fe intends to seamlessly connect the interior with the outdoor environment, transforming the liftgate area into a terrace-like space for passengers to enjoy the surroundings.
The company has invested $190 million in Hyundai Motor Manufacturing, LLC (HMMA) for tooling and equipment upgrades to prepare for this fifth-generation Santa Fe production.
All About the 2024 Santa Fe of Hyundai
The 2024 Santa Fe boasts a 2.5T model and is set to launch in March 2024, followed by the Hybrid model hitting the market in spring. Hyundai envisions the new Santa Fe as a city-friendly, adventure-ready vehicle with a longer wheelbase providing standard third-row seating without compromising overall roominess.
The SUV's design strategy starts with an enlarged liftgate concept, creating a terrace-like living space, and extends to its exterior with efficient, rectangular surfacing. The external design is tailored for both urban and nature-focused settings, capturing a growing outdoor lifestyle trend.
The SUV's front view features an elevated, level hood line, H-shaped headlamp signature, and precision-detailed fenders, drawing inspiration from Hyundai's new flat-profile logo, with a flatter roofline, generous fender volumes, robust wheel arches, and wider liftgate opening.
Santa Fe's new interior design emphasizes horizontal and vertical elements, applying an H-shaped design motif to the upper instrument panel and air vents for openness and cohesive design balance.
It also incorporates eco-friendly materials in both its interior and exterior components, featuring soft surfaces, glossy black paint with recycled carbon materials, and an external color option using a natural bamboo charcoal-coating method, according to Hyundai.
Premium Features of Hyundai 2024 Santa Fe
To enhance user experience, the Santa Fe offers a range of premium features, including a Panoramic Curved Display, UV-C sterilization compartment, dual wireless charging system, and a Bose 12-speaker premium sound system.
The SUV prioritizes living space by increasing cargo capacity and second- and third-row legroom. Premium comfort features include a Relaxation Comfort seat with leg rest, power-reclining captain's chairs in the six-passenger model, and second-row power fold-and-dive seats with cushion-angle adjustment.
Powertrain Choices
With a choice of two powertrains, the 2024 Santa Fe offers a standard 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering an estimated 277 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque.
For environmentally conscious consumers, the hybrid variant merges a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, offering an approximate total power output of 232 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque.
"With the 2024 Santa Fe, we continue our impressive transformation of the Hyundai brand and the broader SUV landscape," said José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America.
"Our newest Santa Fe will attract even more customers with its bold, distinctive design identity, spacious interior design, and unique ability to fuse urban customer lifestyles with the natural outside environment," he added.
