The electric SUV market is expanding, with a renowned luxury EV company bringing its first look at its latest revelation, the Lucid Gravity. It is widely known that Lucid has focused on offering luxury and comfort for their electric vehicles, alongside a notable performance and various technologies to complete its offers.
After its massive focus on its first electric car, the Lucid Air, the company is looking to expand more of what it has to offer, especially amidst its struggles in the market.
Lucid Gravity Unveiled: New Electric SUV with Luxury and Class
Lucid Motors announced their latest electric vehicle development, and this comes in the form of a Sports Utility Vehicle, with the Gravity making its debut earlier today. The Lucid Gravity comes with all the nifty features of an SUV, centering on three-row seating that it claims could comfortably seat seven adults in its cabin, while not sacrificing cargo space in its front trunk and rear.
Moreover, Lucid said that it does not come with a huge exterior that leads to poor maneuverability.
"Lucid's innovative proprietary EV powertrain technology and our holistic approach to vehicle engineering already enabled the Air sedan to redefine what was thought possible from a luxury sports sedan," said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO at Lucid.
This new SUV offers a balance of form and function in its design, centering on maximizing spaces for its interiors, as well as offering aerodynamics for efficiency, and utility for a wide range of use.
What to Know About the Lucid Gravity?
Based on the Air's electric powertrain, Gravity brings a new SUV platform for Lucid that aims to offer a projected range of more than 440 miles. It also claims that it can do zero to 60 mph acceleration around 3.5 seconds.
While Lucid did not reveal the size and specs of its batteries, the company claims that its peak power can bring more than 800 horses.
Lucid claimed that the vehicle will be in the sub-$80,000 price range and will offer the Gravity starting in late 2024.
Electric SUVs in the Market
One of the most notable is Tesla's Model X, being among the earliest to deliver a fully-battery-powered car, offering luxurious features and its technology.
There is also the Rivian R1S, and while it may not be as luxurious as Tesla and Lucid's offer, it is one of the notable family haulers available in the market without worries about contributing to emissions.
On the other hand, General Motors has had its fair share of electric SUVs which it announced earlier, including the Chevrolet Equinox and the Blazer EVs, as well as the Cadillac Escalade IQ.
Japanese car manufacturers also had their take on electric SUVs, with Subaru, Honda, Nissan, and more notable for their clean energy offers for families and groups. While the market is not exactly saturated at present as most electric SUVs are coming by 2024, Lucid Gravity's take will go alongside these renowned brands, offering the company's strengths to the world.
