The Game Awards Named Six Nominees for Game of the Year, No Hogwarts Legacy

Your GOTY nominees are here, but one title is raising questions.

However, there were several notable snubs for this Game of the Year nominations, including the renowned title from the WB Games and Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy.

While some may argue that the nominations are deserving of the recognition, some question what happened to other notable games released this year.

No Hogwarts Legacy Nomination for GOTY

A Reddit post has argued about one of the largest snubs in this year's The Game Awards, with Hogwarts Legacy seeing zero nominations in any categories. According to Den of Geek, while Hogwarts Legacy saw its fair share of issues, there should have been a category in which it was nominated, but it was completely left out despite being one of the biggest releases this year.

The Game Awards Past GOTY Winners

Last year saw the release of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco's hit 2022 game, Elden Ring, with the title also taking the win as The Game Awards' Game of the Year. It faced massive titles in contention for the highest honor, with Sony Sta. Monica's God of War: Ragnarok, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, and Stray.

Before that, 2021's Game of the Year winner is none other than It Takes Two, a title developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The game won against CAPCOM's Resident Evil: Village, Metroid Dread, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart among the most notable.

There is also no forgetting one of the most controversial wins in the history of GOTY, with 2020's The Last of Us Part II from Naughty Dog claiming the highest praise, going against Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Hades, Ghost of Tsushima, and more.

It is that time of the year again as the holidays draw closer, with The Game Awards announcing the nominees for the Game of the Year category, with the top titles released this year. Hogwarts Legacy may not be in contention, but the other titles included are certainly top-rated ones, deserving of the nominations, to be awarded by December 7.
