One of the top operating systems is here, as Android 14 is now slowly rolling out to different eligible smartphones in the market, but there is an issue present now for Google's Pixel 6 lineup, with many users affected. For other smartphone brands and users, storage system issues have been appearing for some, but for Pixel 6 users with multiple profiles, it is already a pain to deal with.
Users who have upgraded to the said Android OS version on their Pixel have been complaining about this in various forums and communities, with many sharing the same sentiments.
Pixel 6: Do Not Update to Android 14 As It Could Kill the Phone
PSA Pixel 6 users, do not upgrade to Android 14 as multiple reports and posts on the official Google Community forum, Android Help forum, and more have claimed that the new operating system is "killing" the phone. The upgrade was said to be "breaking" the phone, with the issues first centering on low storage issues, leading to users not being able to update or install apps.
The sad thing for others is that their device has the automatic updates turned on, and for one user, Google downloaded and installed the new smartphone OS overnight.
The next day, most of the processes on their Pixel 6 were no longer usable, further saying "There also seems to be an issue with the said update not applying as whenever I restart the phone it seems to try to apply the update (progress bar running)."
Android 14's Storage Issues Bug Makes it Unusable
The "bizarre" problem of Android 14 for Pixel 6 centers on storage issues, with users claiming that they still have ample space on their devices but the phone saying that it is already full. Accessing the gallery and new photos would leave users with gray boxes and none of the media, with folders saying that it has "zero bytes" of data in it.
Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a users report this problem with Android 14.
Android 14 and What It Brings
Earlier this year, Google released multiple versions of the latest smartphone operating system it brings for users, with the beta testing phase giving users a glimpse of what to expect from Android 14. The many features of Android 14 expand more on what its users may experience on the device, with one feature mimicking Apple's Continuity Camera for Windows and Chromebook desktops and laptops.
With Android 14 alone, users will get a boosted experience in running apps and other processes on the device, and it will prevent the "Speed Booster" apps from ending background processes on smartphones. These apps are considered misleading, and either they only help speed up a device in their initial use of it, but will no longer continue the process in the long run.
For the modern smartphones that use Android, the renowned Android 14 is surely an OS that brings a lot of usable features, even the advanced ones that the company brought including Satellite SMS, AI, and more. However, it is a different story for old devices, particularly with the Pixel 6 lineup, as users are now taking it online to complain about this problem to Google.
