Tesla's strategy for their performance models typically focuses on upgrading suspension and brakes, rather than altering the powertrain. They achieve faster acceleration and higher top speeds by unlocking specific capabilities in the performance versions, while restricting them in the standard models.

This only means one thing: Tesla streamlines the production process and minimizes hardware differences, according to Electrek.

A Glimpse into the New Seats For Plaid

Recently, it came to light that Tesla is working on sports seats for the updated Model 3 Performance. Now, similar upgrades are in the pipeline for the Model S. References to these new seats were discovered by a Reddit user, /u/S3pirion, within Tesla's updated service manual for the Model S.

A picture from the service manual offers a preview of the new seats. Notably, the seat's shape differs from the current Model S seats, featuring a longer headrest and a new hole in the middle, possibly with a Plaid logo.

Material-wise, the seats appear to be made of perforated faux leather with a different material on the side support. The image shows some creasing at the bottom, raising questions about whether this is a prototype or the final production version.

Release Date and Additional Upgrades

The timeline for the release of these new seats and whether they represent the sole upgrade for the Model S Plaid remains uncertain. It will be intriguing to see how these sports seats enhance the driving experience and comfort for Tesla fans.

Tesla Model S in Stealth Grey Shade

Speaking of Model S, Gizmochina reported that the American automaker is planning to make other optional paint colors for Tesla Model S and X including stealth gray.

As of writing, the color is exclusive to North American and Asian markets. It's quite bizarre to know that even though the majority of EVs were manufactured from the same factory, it's not yet out in Europe.

Meanwhile, another story from Tech Times says that the US Department of Justice (DOHJ is currently investigating Tesla for its claims about the driving range of its electric vehicles. It turns out that these are misleading to the customers.

Based on the SEC filing, the agency is also requesting Tesla to submit documents related to full self-driving and Autopilot.

As we know, the FSD beta became controversial when more than 350,000 EV were recalled because of the related problem.
