Samsung Users Can Have Unlimited Storage for 30 Days With This New Feature

Samsung introduces "Temporary Cloud Backup" for Galaxy devices, offering 100GB of unlimited storage for 30 days.

Samsung is introducing a new feature that aims to give owners of Galaxy smartphones and tablets access to virtually unlimited temporary storage, making it easier to find storage space to back up your smartphone.

Android Authority notes that this interesting feature, called "Samsung Temporary Cloud Backup," is not meant to replace Google Drive but rather resembles Apple's temporary iCloud storage feature.

Users are given limitless storage for 30 days following the date of their initial backup, with a generous 100GB file size limit.

More About the Feature

While this feature offers a lifeline to users grappling with storage shortages, it also aligns with Samsung's Maintenance Mode, assuring that even files stored within the Secure Folder remain secure, even during the repair process.

Notably, this feature extends its support to a wide range of file types, accommodating data from third-party apps.

Rollout and Availability

However, there are a few caveats to bear in mind. Firstly, it is important to note that this feature is only available on devices running One UI 6, which may not be accessible on older Samsung flagship models.

Initially, the rollout is focusing on Galaxy S and Z series devices for users in South Korea, with global availability set to expand this fall.

The "Temporary Cloud Backup" feature will undoubtedly be a welcome relief for Samsung users. It offers a solution to the dilemma of ensuring that all your precious data is safely backed up, providing ample time and resources to make the transfer when needed.

Right to Repair Act

This introduction comes hot on the heels of a notable legislative development. California recently signed the Right to Repair Act into law, which empowers individuals to repair their own devices or seek assistance from third-party repair shops.

Similarly, Apple has announced plans to make repair materials and information more accessible nationwide, further emphasizing the importance of data security in the repair process.

Samsung is not only focusing on data security but also expanding its repair services. In a strategic move, they have designated 35 Batteries Plus stores as Samsung Authorized Service Centers, extending their reach to regions not previously covered by the 2,000 or so existing service centers.
