With a multitude of enhancements setting the stage for more precise, simple, and budget vlogging options, DJI's newest Osmo Pocket 3 inevitably makes for an exciting debut. The new product, which officially releases today, takes the Pocket concept to its most ambitious yet with a 1" CMOS sensor in line with a 3-axis gimbal and a full 2-inch rotatable screen (314 x 556 resolution) for all things content creation.
DJI relays the Pocket 3 can shoot at 4K 120fps only in Slow Motion mode, making it a powerful tool in a creator's arsenal at an immensely compact size. It also leverages image optimization settings, allowing it to seamlessly fine-tune exposure and skin tones. The Osmo Pocket 3 also allows for shooting in a variety of color modes, including 10-bit D-log M and 10-bit HLG.
The fully integrated 2-inch OLED screen is a major enhancement over its predecessor. It also has impeccable image stabilization thanks to the 3-axis mechanicable gimbal for the smoothest quality videos and photos imaginable. DJI is known for its smart use of mechanical stabilization, proving the Pocket 3 is certainly no slouch.
A variety of onboard camera modes and features also make it a no-brainer for both veteran and budding creators alike. Of note is Pocket 3's Product Showcase, a new mode that lets content creators shoot for specific instances wherein a product or item of interest is the main draw. The Pocket 3 comes equipped with ActiveTrack 6.0, which includes Dynamic Framing and Face Auto-Detect features to streamline the video creation process.

Additional features and modes include Motionlapse, a so-called "surreal flow of time" capture mode, Panorama for exciting vistas and landscapes, SpinShot for a 180-degree smooth camera turn, and 4x digital zoom potential for unparalleled creation. The Osmo Pocket 3 can also be used with the Mic 2 from DJI for dual-person recordings if necessary.
The Osmo Pocket 3 uses a 1300 mAh battery that DJI claims can be charged to 80% in just 16 minutes and 100% in a total of 32 minutes. At a full charge, the device can record 116 minutes of 4K/60fps footage, or up to 166 minutes of 1080p/24fps footage. These tests were conducted while the 2-inch screen was turned off as well as Wi-Fi in a laboratory at room temperature.
As with most new DJI products, a host of additional add-ons and accessories will aid in the creation. These include a mini tripod, wide-angle lens, magnetic ND filters set, expansion adapter cold shoe mount, carrying bag, black mist filter, and an official battery handle. It also has, as one might expect, LightCut compatibility to allow creators seamless editing potential all at their fingertips.
Weighing at all but a mere 179g, the Osmo Pocket 3 is a versatile game changer for creators who aim to explore and excite through powerful action imagery. The product is available today, October 25th on the firm's website at $519 for the main device, with alternative bundles available. Those interested can get the Creator Combo, which includes a wrist wrap, handle, protective cover, Mic 2 transmitter, and more at $669.
