The latest Snapdragon Summit from Qualcomm earlier today formally unveiled the Silicon chip it is looking to debut for Windows computers, the Snapdragon X Elite, coming soon by mid-2024. This chip will both be available for direct purchases and built-in via computers that will take on this device for their process.

Qualcomm boasts that this chip offers the most efficient process in a PC chip against competitors in the market, including the Big Tech Apple, Intel, and AMD.

The Snapdragon X Elite also introduces the Qualcomm AI Engine that is meant to power processes from Windows software, apps, and experiences, with the company believing that artificial intelligence is the future of computers. It offers 5G and WiFi 7 connectivity, 4K @120Hz, LPDDR5x memory up to 64GB, and performance efficiency that promises to prolong battery life.

Arm-based, Silicon Chips are Pouring In

Apple is the most famous company for creating Arm-based Silicon chips, centering on an all-in-one processor that a computer needs, first introducing it last 2020. Now, there are reports that Apple is looking to launch the M3, its third mainline release of its SoC, with varying claims from leakers about its availability, including the MacBook, iMac, iPads, and more.

While Apple is leading, others are also looking to join the Silicon push for modern computers, and among those is Qualcomm with the Snapdragon X series meant for Windows PCs.

Another reported joiner to creating future Silicon chips for computers is NVIDIA, the Santa Clara-based company best known for its graphics processing units (GPUs).

The biggest name in SoCs now is still Apple, and there is no doubt that the company will continue to dominate this for several years before facing the emergence of other tech and brands. Qualcomm is looking to penetrate the SoC market with its Snapdragon X Elite, the all-in-one chip that brings significant performance, AI support, better battery life, and an overall upgrade for Windows PCs to match against M-series Macs.
