The Google Wallet has recently updated the supported state IDs that it can keep digitally, adding three new states in the United States including Arizona, Colorado, and Georgia. This means that Driver's Licenses and other forms of state IDs may now be stored on the Google Wallet app via Android, now having four areas in the US that owners may use for the digital experience.
Google Wallet Adds Arizona, Colorado, Georgia State IDs
Google has recently announced that it is adding three new states that would support the digitalization of its official state IDs, including Arizona, Colorado, and Georgia for all valid identification cards. The service now features four states supporting its service, including Maryland, which was the first availability of the service for all digital ID needs.
There are several requirements needed for the Google Wallet to store the ID, and the most important is having one's smartphone updated to Android 8 or higher for this to work.
Moreover, Bluetooth and Nearby devices must be turned on, and Google advises adding a screen lock to the smartphone. Google Wallet can store US Driver's Licenses and State IDs from these regions.

How to Use Google Wallet to Store Your Digital IDs?
First, users need to search the app via the Google Play Store or scan the QR via the Wallet's website to download it.
Next, launch the app select "Add to Wallet" and tap "Select ID Card." Select your state from the four mentioned above to add to the app, prompting the scanning and verification process. It would require the physical ID, a brief video verification, and Google sending the ID to the state for further authentication.
Once verified, the Wallet app would notify the user that their ID is added to the digital records in their phone.
Digital IDs on Android and iOS
Back in 2022, the Mountain View giant rebranded its Google Pay to the new "Google Wallet" app that can store digital IDs on Android smartphones, with eligibility requirements for users in their OS versions. Alongside this, Google allowed the integration and storing of digital IDs to the Android smartphone via the app, including student IDs, Driver's License, and more.
Apple is also not one to lag behind Google as the company centered on the Apple Wallet app on the iOS platform to also keep a digital copy of one's plastic cards, particularly with Driver's Licenses and Student IDs.
Both services have been looking to expand on partner states that would accept digital IDs for identification and verification processes in various entry points like the TSA in airports or simply providing it to police or stores.
Being able to store digital IDs would reduce the need to bring one's physical wallet and the cards inside it with them at all times, as the smartphone alone could present this where it is needed. Google Wallet now adds three states where their state IDs may be stored digitally via Android, with a total of four areas where the service would be applicable to meet their needs.
