Earlier this year, Garmin introduced its electrocardiogram (ECG) app but only to one smartwatch. At that time, Engadget reported that it was exclusive to Venu 2 Plus owners living in the US.
Right now, the timepiece maker announced that it has expanded the app to four more Garmin smartwatches.
4 Garmin Smartwatches Get ECG App Support
Garmin, a leading player in the wearable technology sector, has unveiled expanded compatibility for its ECG App, benefitting users in the US. The latest integration covers a range of Garmin's premium smartwatches, offering enhanced health monitoring capabilities, according to GSM Arena.
Garmin's ECG App is now seamlessly compatible with the Epix Pro series, Fenix 7 Pro series, Venu 3 series, and Tactix 7 smartwatches, providing users with a broader array of options for their health and wellness tracking.
This expanded compatibility allows users to perform electrocardiogram (ECG) readings directly from their supported Garmin smartwatches. These readings furnish valuable data related to heart rhythm, offering insights into potential irregularities like atrial fibrillation (AFib) and sinus rhythm.
Garmin's user-friendly approach ensures that ECG readings are readily accessible. Users can view these records directly on their compatible Garmin smartwatches, within the Garmin Connect smartphone app, or export them as convenient PDF files.

How to Unlock ECG Feature in Your Garmin Watch
To unlock the potential of this ECG feature, users are advised to update their Garmin Connect app to the latest version. Once updated, they can activate the ECG feature through the Settings menu within the smartphone app.
Garmin takes pride in the accuracy of its ECG readings, likening them to single-lead electrocardiogram devices. This precision ensures that users can trust the data for critical health monitoring.
While the ECG App is currently accessible in the US, Garmin's commitment to extending its global reach is evident. Users in Hong Kong and Vietnam can also benefit from this health-monitoring feature, with the potential for further expansion in the future.
"We are pleased to bring the ECG App to even more of our customers, including those with our flagship epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro series smartwatches. We take pride in offering premium health and wellness features across our smartwatch lineups and this revolutionary tool that lets our customers conveniently take an ECG recording when they want only adds to the suite of innovative features to help them stay on top of their health," Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales said via PR Newswire.
