The newest 2D Mario adventure in more than 10 years will be released in less than two weeks, presenting fans of the Super Mario brand with a long-anticipated gaming experience.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder promises a new and fascinating perspective on the popular character for those who might not have been completely satisfied with the presentation style of the New Super Mario Bros. video game series.

According to NintendoLife, Super Mario Bros. Wonder departs from the fairly pedestrian gameplay of New Super Mario Bros. U and its Deluxe Switch remake. Instead, it embraces an imaginative fusion of brand-new components that pays homage to the exhilarating inventiveness of timeless games like Super Mario Galaxy and Odyssey.

Innovative Gameplay

Wonder's level design, which is evocative of the 2D apex of Mario gameplay in the 1990s, is one of its prominent characteristics. The game mirrors Super Mario World's inventiveness with its abundance of alternate routes, hidden pathways, and hidden exits. VGC reports that Takashi Tezuka, Super Mario World's director, oversees this Nintendo Switch game to replicate Mario's golden age.

The debut of the new Elephant Mario character wonderfully captures the tone and general design of the game. Super Mario Bros. Wonder presents novel concepts and gameplay elements while giving Mario new maneuvers to traverse this fantastical environment.

Moreover, Super Mario Bros. Wonder's visuals have improved substantially in terms of clarity and dynamic fluidity, especially when it comes to the expressive motion of the characters and even the recognizable green pipes.

Mario's actions in the new Super Mario Bros. game, such as when he enters and exits pipes, display a novel degree of realism and immersion. Plus, opponents in Super Mario Bros. Wonder are animated and expressive.

Badges: Keys to Skill Upgrade

The introduction of badges, a revolutionary gameplay mechanism that gives players access to a number of talents and boosts, is another interesting change to the gameplay. These badges, which provide players with new abilities and assistance choices, are divided into action and boost badges. These badges creatively improve Mario's powers, from the Parachute Cap for midair gliding to the Crouching Jump for reaching higher places.

Additionally, a wide variety of characters are introduced in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, deepening the gameplay. While all of the characters play similarly, Yoshi and Nabbit stand out since they were created for a kid-friendly, simple mode, per IGN.

With its creative gameplay, expressive animation, and respect for the franchise's roots, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a welcome addition to the Mario World video game franchise.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder releases on October 20, 2023.
