Verida, a decentralised, self-sovereign data network empowering individuals to control their digital identity and personal data, announced a significant growth milestone for its Acacia testnet, which reached over 30,000 users this month. Verida's growth is a testimony to the need to fill the gap in the market that already lost $6bn due to recent crypto hacks.
Verida's Testnet leverages the Zero-Knowledge credentials released in collaboration with Polygon ID, enabling users to control their own data, making it harder for hackers to gain unauthorized access by removing centralised data storage from the process. In addition, Verida's network employs Verifiable Credentials (VC), empowering users to selectively disclose relevant information without compromising their privacy, ensuring data protection and security. Verida partnered with GateKeeper to accelerate wider adoption of verifiable credentials and zero-knowledge proofs, resulting in over 5,000 users claiming the GateKeeper Adopter Credential.
In the pursuit of the user growth milestone, Verida conducted extensive performance testing on the storage node network and the applications that rely on it, such as the Verida Wallet and Missions application. The public launch of the Verida Myrtle Mainnet later this year will grant partners and users access to a stable and secure storage node network for seamless integration with their applications.
The incentivised testnet has enabled Verida to showcase cutting-edge technologies such as decentralised identity management, zero-knowledge credentials, encrypted data sharing, and consent using the Verida Wallet mobile app. As a result, numerous companies such as Gamer 31 have adopted this innovative technology for exciting large-scale projects worldwide.
The Acacia testnet activities have led to significant upgrades, refactoring, and performance improvements across the network. Many of these improvements are a direct result of issues and bugs reported by Verida's dedicated community. To enhance transparency regarding network performance and availability, Verida upgraded the Verida Network Explorer to display account and node information. Verida Storage Nodes now operate globally across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas.
