Apple Pay users may now link their Venmo cards.

Need to pay for in-app purchases or in-store through NFC scanners? First off, this means that users no longer need to bring their credit and debit cards with them at all times as stores allow terminals with NFC to accept this method of payment.

PayPal announced that Venmo Credit and Debit cards are now available to link to the Apple Pay service, also allowing users to store their information via the Wallet app. This is available on devices including the iPhone series, iPad series, Apple Watch, and the Mac, as long as its version is updated to those that support Apple Pay.

The initial integration of the service was seen on PayPal's Q3 2022 Earnings report where the company revealed that it has been working with Apple to integrate the payment service to their platform.

Several perks in using Venmo payments via Apple Pay include earning 2 percent with PayPal Cashback Credit Card, getting PayPal Rewards Points via the Debit Card, 3 percent cash back on eligible purchases via Venmo Credit Card, and more.

PayPal said that its Business Credit and Debit cards will also follow Apple Pay integration soon.

How to Link Your Venmo Card to Apply Pay?

To use Apple Pay for all Venmo credit and debit card purchases, users need to link it first. It only needs one's Apple device, their credit or debit card, and an internet connection to proceed.

  • First, head to the Apple Wallet app
  • Select the "add debit or credit card" option
  • Scan or enter the details manually of the Venmo credit or debit card
  • Use Apple Pay and choose Venmo as their preferred option

Apple Pay and PayPal

Apple Pay is one of the most popular digital wallets across the United States and in some parts of the world where it is available, promising a seamless mobile payment operation via the Wallet app. While users are not required to get an Apple Pay Card or set up a Savings account, users can still freely utilize the experience with other integrated companies and financial institutions.

Back in 2022, PayPal announced that its services, alongside Venmo, are now supporting Apple Pay's Tap to Pay feature where users can use their smartphone to purchase goods via their devices. It is known that PayPal's integration is exclusive to Apple Pay, available on various devices including iPhones, Apple Watches, and other devices.

Now, PayPal has expanded yet again its integration to the Apple Pay experience for those who are using Venmo, as their credit and debit cards are already available to store via the Wallet app for various devices. Linking one's account is easy, and bringing their cards to Apple Pay would have them ditching the plastic every time users need to pay for goods.
