Microsoft warns that Windows 7 and 8 users have the last chance to upgrade their old OS to Windows 10 or 11 without paying money.

Until then, the company issues that millions of PC owners should immediately take advantage of this upgrade or else they won't be able to update their Windows OS later.

Last Change For Windows 11 Upgrade

When Windows 10 was launched, Microsoft allowed users to upgrade for free. When 2016 came, the company officially halted this perk. It was only available for Windows 11 users.

As The Sun reports, a Microsoft spokesperson said that the free upgrade offer for Windows 10 and 11 stopped on July 29, 2016.

"The installation path to obtain the Windows 7/8 free upgrade is now removed as well," the spokesperson added.

While the free upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is still ongoing, the experts believe that now is the time to upgrade.

According to them, millions of PC users should do this as soon as possible until they still have time since Microsoft could shut the loophole anytime.

Speaking to TechRadar, tech-pro Darren Allan said that users who wanted to upgrade their outdated Windows 7 or 8 to the latest operating system should move "sharpish."

Allan adds that by the time they read his statement, the free upgrade park may no longer be possible.

Wider Adoption of Windows OS

It's strange to know that while experts are warning users about this missed opportunity, Microsoft has already been doing this for years—for the past seven years to be exact.

This could mean that Microsoft is fully embracing the wider adoption of Windows 10 or 11 among the users.

Truly, it's tempting to upgrade to a new OS if you come from an old operating system. However, it still varies depending on people. Some can't upgrade because their PCs do not meet the minimum requirements. Others ditch the free Windows upgrade because they think that some apps won't work if they use the new OS.

Windows 11 Update Just Arrived

Amid the news about Copilot, some fans think that it's not the best feature that will be highlighted in the latest Windows 11 update. It turns out that this was supported by a leak from a known tech tipster.

The Copilot AI has trended among Microsoft users, but there's no way that other features can't do the same thing.

As such, the leaker says that the taskbar has received improvements, giving users more control over this option.

On top of that, the taskbar update also allows users to right-click on the app. In doing so, they could end the task immediately.

The Windows 11 update which arrived last Sept. 26 also introduced Moment 4 for the 22H2 version. Right now, you can install it if you want to try it out early.
