DANA POINT, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 27: Linda Yaccarino, CEO, X/Twitter speaks onstage during Vox Media's 2023 Code Conference at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel on September 27, 2023, in Dana Point, California.

X (formerly known as Twitter) has paid roughly $20 million to its users, a major milestone for content providers. Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, made the announcement, highlighting the company's dedication to fostering and recognizing its creative community.

When engaging with other verified users, content producers can receive a portion of the advertising income from the advertisements that are shown in the answers to their posts under X's Creator Program, launched in July. Users must subscribe to X Premium (previously Twitter Blue), have over 500 followers, and have generated over 5 million tweet impressions in the past three months to participate, per TechCrunch.

Elon Musk, X chief technology officer, noted that the program's initial payouts, which included revenues from February onward, totaled about $5 million. The significant rise to over $20 million points to either a significant increase in the number of producers entering the program or an increase in the number of impressions produced by X advertising.

Generating Money from Tweets

Creators are now rewarded for encouraging user interaction through answers to their tweets as part of their involvement. While encouraging discourse is a goal, it's important to remember that platforms like Facebook have seen a trend where more intense emotional responses tend to lead to more user engagement.

Several creators have previously acknowledged getting money from X in the hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars range, Digiday reported. As a tech critic and influencer on X, Alvin—also known as @sondesix-has 101,000 followers. He acknowledged that between February 1 and July 31, his Twitter impressions went over 160 million. He received a payout of $657 during this time.

Because of the validity of the cash he got, Alvin voiced his newfound optimism for X's potential as a platform for creators. He expressed worry, too, about certain X Blue users who intentionally boosted interaction on trending tweets to raise their revenue.

Another content producer who specializes in creating game videos, AJ Okami (@OkamiGames), who has over 32,000 followers on X, described his story of getting paid $162. Active participation from February to June 2023 earned him 95.1 million impressions and $0.17 per 100,000 impressions.

Positive Outlook on X Profitability

X Corp. CEO Linda Yaccarino has provided further financial details about the company, disclosing that X Corp.'s operational cash flow is almost at break-even, and she was upbeat about the business making a profit in the first quarter of 2024.

The major source of income for X Corp. is still advertising, despite a reduction when Elon Musk bought the platform. Particularly, worries about potentially dangerous material have surfaced, leading firms to rethink their advertising.

Yaccarino, a seasoned professional in the advertising sector, was hired to restore advertiser confidence and handle content-related difficulties.

The top executive of X said during an interview at the Code Conference in California that "90% of the top 100 advertisers have returned to the platform in the last 12 weeks alone; about 1,500 have returned," as quoted by Fortune in its report. These endeavors point to a positive future for X as it develops under its new name, both in terms of creative support and revenue recovery.
