Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company is now developing a generative AI. With this venture, he expects to hire more staff in the UK.
Will Apple Release a ChatGPT-Like Service?
With OpenAI on the front seat in the AI chatbot industry, many tech firms want to catch up in the race. Some of them are brewing their own formula and recipe to compete with ChatGPT.
According to Apple Insider, Cook told the UK press that more than half a million jobs will be given to the future employees. These people will reportedly work in an AI-focused undertaking.
As per London's Evening Standard, Cook said that massive hiring will come anytime soon and recruitment is expected to increase.
The Apple CEO says that the majority of products are incorporated with AI. He exemplifies that Apple Watch relies on Crash Detection which somehow uses artificial intelligence. There's also predictive typing that is present on the iPhone.
To sum it up, Cook shattered the rumors that the Cupertino firm will venture into bringing a ChatGPT-like service. Of course, this is already a confirmation coming from an Apple executive.
In his UK visit, Cook said that the UK has the third largest employee population worldwide. He saw the location as an ideal place for a newfound department.
"We have developers here working on great apps. We have developers here working on Vision Pro apps and so the developer community is really important to us and we have a huge user base here," Cook said via The Independent.
Cook added that Apple loves serving the UK market. The iPhone maker has been around for 40 years in the region.

Tim Cook Personally Uses ChatGPT
Back in March, an early report by Tech Times said that another AI model will be used to compete with ChatGPT. At that time, experts claimed that the new technology will be used to improve Siri, Apple's voice assistant.
The new natural language system dubbed "Bobcat" could potentially come to the AI assistant.
Four months later, another report said that Apple planned to create a generative AI that can rival OpenAI's trademark. In the same report, Mark Gurman claimed that it is set to arrive in 2024.
Of course, it's still hard to believe in these rumors since no confirmation from Apple was made at that time. However, Tim Cook already hinted at his interest in ChatGPT.
Livemint reported that Cook has been personally using the AI chatbot. He said that ChatGPT should be used carefully so misinformation and potential bias will be avoided.
