The renowned superhero Spawn from Image Comics may soon get a new video game, as revealed by its creator, Todd McFarlane, who weighed in on the chances.
Among the most iconic superheroes and anti-heroes during his release and until now, Spawn, a Hellspawn, is famous for his darker and more violent adventures.
In an interview with ComicBook Gaming, McFarlane also teased the planned adaptation of the character in another movie following its cinematic adventure almost 30 years ago.
Spawn Video Game Coming? Todd McFarlane Teases
During the interview, Todd McFarlane revealed the possibility of a new video game for Spawn.
"Probably, but I'm holding off on that until I know what's happening definitively with the movie," McFarlane noted.
The writer and artist of one of the most famous comic book characters said the Spawn series is not a renowned global game franchise like "Call of Duty." In his upcoming debut on "Call of Duty's Season 6," Spawn will be introduced as an operator.
McFarlane hinted that the possibility for a new game would depend on the movie, and it may arrive a year later for the world to see this iconic hero in a digital world.
Movie Adaptation First Before Spawn Game
The main takeaway from Todd McFarlane's interview is that the Spawn movie would come first before the video game, and the game would depend on the film's success.
Spawn has been rumored, speculated, and confirmed to have a modern movie adaptation, with various reports saying when it will arrive and who will star in it.
Some claimed that John Leguizamo would join this film, as he was also part of the original one in 1997, opposing Michael Jai White's Spawn.
Spawn: The Beloved Character From Hell
Comics' top offers for movies include those from Marvel and DC, but there is a third company, Image Comics, whose most popular series was Todd McFarlane's Spawn.
Al Simmons, the previous life of Spawn before he was burned to death, is a celebrated anti-hero, with his fame also known for the movie adaptation in 1997 and a much-awaited next film that has been rumored for a while now.
There were not many media representations of Spawn apart from the comics by McFarlane, with several animated movies, one live-action film, and various video game appearances in the past.
The most recent appearance of Spawn in a game was with Mortal Kombat 11's DLC pack, which included the hero in his full glory and original suit as seen in the comics.
Spawn's limited appearance in public does not mean that this is a failing franchise or not that popular, as the character still has many fans.
McFarlane's recent interview only suggests that more plans are coming for Spawn, with the character's movie adaptation in the works and possibly followed by a new video game for the world to experience.
